"Raven, I understand that you're upset, but-"
I casted an angry glare at her, which made her shut her mouth.
Her eyes softened.
Ever since I was diagnosed with AF, an electrical heart disease, I became friends with one of the doctors that was treating me. Treatment wasn't for long though, it failed. They couldn't help me, it was getting worse and they knew that too. They stopped treatment and told me they were uncertain about how long I could survive the heart disease without any treatment. Maegan was the only doctor who didn't give up.
She tried to get me seen by others that were specialized in that field of work. No one could fix my problem, though. Megan took it upon herself to do her own little treatment for me. It was illegal I might add. After six months trying to concoct a medicine that might help slow my rapid heartbeat, she at last put together a special medication just for me.
Now I was just scared of the consequences she might have to face. Along with the failure that may follow.
"I am upset! Can you blame me? I mean you're risking everything by doing this."
"This? Raven you could die. Do you really think I'm just going to sit back and do nothing, while you suffer?"
I sighed.
"Maegan, I know you want to help me, but you are risking too much. You not only could lose your job and license, but you could go to jail."
"It's worth it."
She couldn't be serious.
"No, it's not! I'm only one person. Think of all the other people you could help, but you can't if you lose your license and more importantly if you go to jail."
She stopped and looked down, hanging her head dejectedly. I don't think she really thought any of what she was doing through.
"I'm sorry. I... I just wanted to help you. You deserve at least that much."
She looked up at me, I tear slid from her Hazel, reddened eyes, down her smooth clear skin. I went over to her, from where I was standing, and hugged her unyieldingly.
"I-I d-don't want y-you to die." She sobbed.
I pulled back and grabbed a hold of her shoulders, at that moment I looked her in the eyes and boldly lied to her and myself,
"I'm not going to die."~ Present day ~
It was dark, and I probably was just seeing things. The mind can play tricks on you, Lord knows mine always did. Something deep down told me to go get help though, I couldn't ignore it. I needed to do something.
"Maegan?"
She grumbled something and laid down on the dirt road.
Great.
I had to hurry up and get help before something happened. I didn't have time to deal with Maegan's drunken state.
"Maegan, listen I'll be right back, OK?"
She mumbled something incoherent.
"Stay right here. I'm gonna go get help."
This time she groaned, I took that as an okay. I hurried to the exit door to find someone who could help. Once I put my hand on the handle of the door, it flew open. Two tall men emptied out.
"Oh thank goodness! I need help! There's a women over there-," I stopped and pointed in the direction of where I saw the man and woman at, but now no one was there.
One of them closed the exit door, while the other one on the right walked towards me, grinning.
Something's wrong.
They weren't really intimidating, yes they were tall, but they look like average 20-year-old men. Something was different though. If they tried anything, I could take them. I wasn't concerned about me right now. They turned and looked at each other and smiled with mischief.
"What are you doing out here, all by yourself?"
The one on the right questioned.
Now it was the left one's turn to speak. "You shouldn't be by yourself."
"I'm not, I'm with a friend."
"Oh?"
"Yeah." I turned and pointed behind me at the dirt road lined with grass, but that's all there was, grass.
Maegan! She was right there...
"She was right over there." I whispered to myself.
"Looks like she's not there anymore."
They both started laughing and the one on the right pulled out a knife. Before I could react he sprang forward and grabbed me by my wrist and cornered me with a knife to my throat. The other one went over to us and spoke.
"Let's take this somewhere more, private."
I mentally panicked, not because I was scared, but because my friend was nowhere to be found. I really didn't want to deal with them right now. I needed to find Megan. If I were to deal with them, it wouldn't be pretty.
Why do men only want to control women?
"I wouldn't want to mess with me if I were you."
I was showered with their bemusement, after I said that.
"Really now?" The one with the knife said.
"What are you gonna do, huh? Scream?"
Now it was my turn to laugh. They looked at each other with astonishment.
"If you play around with fire, you're going to get burned."
I put my hand over the man's hand, that was holding the knife to my throat. I then let all my anger seep out and let it release through my hand. Fire erupted from it, with ease, it found his. He howled out in pain and hastily dropped the knife. He gripped his hand tightly and ran, as fast as his pain would let him. The other man looked at me alarmed and disturbed, then also ran away into the night.
Maegan.
I turned to look behind me to search for my friend. I ran over to where she was laying and scanned the area. My eyes found red droplets in the dirt. My heart dropped.
Blood.
I didn't know how she could just disappear. I was literally 8 feet away from her. I would've heard something.
This made no sense.
It's okay. It's going to be okay. You'll find her.Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Things will start getting a little more interesting!!!!
