It had been three days now since I had taken my medication. Not taking it was having a bad impact on me. I felt like my heart was hanging on for dear life. My heart was fighting not to be overcome by the electric pulls that were tugging my heart into the depths of insufferable pain. The feeling wasn't tolerable, but I had no choice. I had to deal with the pain.
My vision was starting to blur and I could tell that it wouldn't be long until I lost consciousness. The bed I had been laying on, did little to keep the tiredness, that was overtaking me, away.
I wish....... the pain would stop. Forever....
My eyes were struggling to stay open. The last thing I remembered, was seeing the sun begin to set.

Raven? Are you okay? ..... You need to wake up. He's coming! Please..

"Miss." A voice called out.
It was such a sweet sound.
"You don't look so good." I recognized the voice to belong to a woman. I couldn't open my eyes to get a look at who it was.
"I'll be right back!" Her fast footsteps echoed in the huge bedroom we were in. Then they disappeared as I heard the door shut. I couldn't help but to drift off.

_______

"What's wrong with her?"
"It appears.........much more serious than I thought."
"...you suppose?"
"I have not yet to know."
The voices continued to talk and then become understandable.
Who are these people?
My eyes felt heavy, but I was able to slowly open them. The lights above me kept me from opening them completely because of the brightness.
"She's waking up." A woman said.
Another, deeper, voiced his agreement.
Their forms slowly came into view, as my eyes adjusted. Immediately, I sat up quickly looking around me. It looked like I was in a hospital bed, but not an actually hospital. The room looked like a normal bedroom, with a couple of adjustments.
"Ms. Freeman, I gave you a little morphine. It looked like you were in a lot of pain. Are you feeling any better?" It was a middle aged man who asked. He looked like a doctor of some sort.
"Who are you? Where am I?"
"I'm the King's physician and you're in the infirmary. When I got to you, you're heart wasn't beating. I was scared that you had passed during the morning. Elizabeth and I rushed you here to hopefully bring you back. It took a while before the monitor picked up a heart beat. When you started to come to, your started screaming. I thought maybe you were in a lot of pain. You're a fighter for sure and a wonder..."
"Are you saying..... I died?" I knew I was insane for holding out on taking my medicine, but would it cause such a mess? That fact alone frightened me. The medicine wasn't meant to keep me alive! It only was supposed to help ease the pain. I knew, my time was almost up.......
"You don't seem to be surprised."
I stated darkly, "I'm not."
He gave me a curious look. I didn't want to bring my health issues up to a stranger. He could use it against me. Anyone could. Maegan was the only one I trusted, the only person to know about my disease.
He waited for me to explain. I didn't. He got that I wasn't willing to.
"I take it you know something I don't?"
"I do."
".....I see. Well then, I can't help you if I don't know the extent of your medical problems."
"I didn't ask you to help me." I said matter of factly.
Why would I?
He looked shocked from what I said.
"Im sorry if I offended you. The King insisted that I help you in any way possible."
"I don't need your help or the King's help. He doesn't need to worry about-"
I was suddenly cut off...
"I wasn't worried." The King himself said entering the room.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I wouldn't mind if you died, but not before you help me get what I want."
I hate him.
"You are really full of yourself, you know that?"
I could feel my blood begin to boil. My power was practically begging me to unleash my wrath on him. You could never trust anyone. Ever.
"You seem to be forgetting our promise." He commented, walking towards the bed.
"I'm pretty sure YOU'RE the one that has forgotten. After I do fulfill our promise, you agreed that we'd go our separate paths. WITHOUT a fight." I raised my head waiting for his smart reply. Instead I saw the left corner of his mouth twitch.
You don't like being called out, do you vampire?
I was surprised that he showed his irritation. He gave me an aggravated look and turned around to leave. Before he got out of the door he signaled, with his hand, for someone to follow him out. The girl, supposedly that was named Elizabeth, followed him. I wanted so badly to knock some sense into him. He couldn't even acknowledge the person that was following him.
I started to second guess myself on if I could really trust his word. I guess it didn't really matter at this point, now that I was limited on time.
I looked over to my right to find the man still standing there.
"What's your name?" I asked him.
"It's Elijah Williams."
"I want to see my friend that he has hidden away from me. Her name is Maegan. She's the only one that can fix my....... pain." I tried to not give him a lot of information. That way I couldn't be blackmailed after all this was over with.
"If you would tell me what was happening, I'm confident that I could help you a lot more than she could. I have resources."
"No. I don't mean to be rude. Please don't misunderstand, I don't trust you. Anyone. Except for Maegan because she knows everything about me. She stuck by me."
"I realize that, but even if she were to help you how would she? She doesn't have the equipment that I do nor the resources. Excuse me for saying this, as you already now, she is detained. If I were able to get permission for her to tend to you, how would she help you without any medicine here?"
"Couldn't she use your things?"
"Only the King's medical staff can touch anything in the lab."
"It's not like she wouldn't know what she's doing. Can't he just let it slide this one time?"
He gave me a blank stare and then sighed.
"I can ask the King, if you like then."
"Thank you." I smiled at him.
As he left the room, I inwardly prayed that he would understand the situation and agree to it. I felt that it was going to be a long drawn out thing. That man was the spawn of Satan himself. I knew that if he were to agree, it would cost me something.....
