"It's alright Conner. Everything is going to be ok.
We were sitting on the curb next to the old cannery. Our make-shift tent was whipping around like a mad horse. It was the beggining of December, and the snow was just starting to fall.
"It's so cold Scarlet. Do we have anymore blankets?" Conner asked.
"I'm sorry buddy, but no. I would give you mine, but it's so thin it wouldn't make much difference."
"When can we get a house? I don't like this tent."
"Me neither buddy." I said. "But the sooner you fall asleep, the sooner we can go get some food. Maybe we'll see a house that's cheap enough for us to buy then." I continued.
Why didn't they take us in? Why didn't they believe me? My parents left me with a tiny newborn, and no home. The stupid Nuns think they're Holy by leaving us out on the streets? Whatever. Now, I have to make enough money to by food for my brother and I, and figure out a way to save enough money to buy a house.. I don't know how my parents did it.
Oh well, there's no use dwelling over what can't be changed. I layed down next to Conner, and fell into a restless sleep. All I could here was the sound of my mother weeping as she left with my father. Oh memories.
