Chapter 17

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring- nevermind. Ryan just woke up. I put his red and green shirt on him since Mom, Dad and Austin will be over soon. They're all spending Christmas here.
"I'm just going to hop in the shower, Tay." Ed says "I'll be quick, so you can have your shower."
"Okay. Ryan still hasn't calmed down yet, so take as long as you want." I reply

Soon enough, Ryan dozes off and I put him in his crib. I tell Ed to watch over him, since he'll wake up soon.

I begin so set the table with plates and food. Mom, Dad, Austin and Ed are cooing over Ryan.
"Dinner's ready." I say as I walk into the living room. I take Ryan from Austin and set him in his high chair. He sits right beside me.
"This tastes great, Taylor!" Mom exclaims.
"Thank you." I reply.

"Do you ever sleep?" Austin jokes when he steps in the living room.
"Do you ever put away your phone?" I retort. "I'm almost done anyways. Go back upstairs."
"Fine" Austin groans as he grabs a cookie.

Ryan squeals with excitement as he holds a stuffed bear. I bounce my knee up and down, holding Ryan. He really seems to love the wrapping paper.
I open my last gift which is from Ed. I carefully take out a necklace that says "Mom"
"I love it. Thank you Ed" I say before we share a kiss.
"I have one more thing for you." I say to him while giving my Mom Ryan.
I run downstairs to the music room to retrieve his present. It's wrapped up of course, but I wanted him to open it last.
"Here you go." I say once I'm back upstairs.
Ed opens it. One piece of tape at a time.
"Hurry up!" I exclaim, on the edge of my seat.
Ed's mouth hangs open.
"You really didn't have to." Ed says.
"It's the guitar I saw you looking at a while back. I thought you'd like it." I say.
"I love it." Ed says in shock.

~New Year's Eve~
"Ryan will be fine, Taylor. I won't let anything hurt him." My mom says. "Besides, you need to get out of the house."
Ed and I are on our way to a New Year's party. I think this is the first time I've gone somewhere without Ryan.
"You ready?" Ed asks. He's dressed up in a tuxedo, which is pretty rare. I'm in a sparkly black dress.
"Ready." I say.
Ed drives, while I sit in the passenger seat. We're going down the road, and almost nobody's out. There's a grey car in the other lane and it swerves out in front of us. I black out.
When I wake up, I see a white light.
