Chapter 20

Today is Ryan's birthday. He turns one year old today, and let me tell you, a lot has happened in just a year.  His hair has started coming in, and is it ever so messy. I've never seen a baby with that much hair!

Ed holds him as I bring out the birthday cake. My mom, dad, Selena, Austin, Caitlin, Grant and Liz are all here to celebrate.

The cake is blue with a big 1 on it, that'll be fun to wash off his clothes... They all start singing to him, and he just bounces up and down in Ed's arms.

"Make a wish, buddy!" Ed whispers in his ear.

Ryan is cooing and laughing away, but he isn't  blowing out the candle, so Ed does it for him.

I give the birthday boy a piece of the cake once he's in his highchair. Almost instantly, he spreads it all over his face, trying to get it in his mouth. I try to feed him myself, but it's no use. He just wants to eat with his hands.

                                                    ~2 months later~

Today is the day that we go to court for the person who threatened to do something to Ryan and Meredith, and who nearly killed us in the car crash.

Ed and I are just about to head out the door, but we get a phone call.

"Mr and Mrs. Sheeran?" The voice asks.

"Yes? Who is this?" Ed asks.

"It's officer Smith, from the courts. You do not need to come into court today, as the suspect has been plead guilty. Have a nice day."

"You too." Ed says before he hangs up.

"Who was that?" I ask.

"Officer Smith from the courts." He starts out. "We don't have to go. They've been plead guilty."

"That's great!" I exclaim. "Could you call Selena please? She can come and drop off Ryan and stay for a bit. I have to go do something."

"Sure. I bet he had fun with her for like an hour." Ed says. "I love you."

"I love you too."

I go into the empty bedroom beside Ryan's. I find all the girl stuff that we had gotten at our baby shower, when we thought we were having twin girls. The other crib is in here, along with another high chair.

About an hour later, everything in this room is set up perfectly, for a little girl, who will be here in 7 months.
