Taking down the Christmas decorations actually hurts. It's the worst time of the year. I have to put it all away tonight and start decorating for our New Years party. It's not a crazy huge party though. Just some friends like Grant and Claire (and by the way they're FINALLY married) and their kids so Ryan has some friends to play with. I've been stalking through Pinterest to find ideas for the kids.
We (well I) finished taking down all the Christmas decorations. It's still pretty early so I should start baking some treats just so I have a bit more time tomorrow. Ryan's playing in the living room and also waiting for some cookies to finish. Ed's putting Lucy to sleep. I'm making macarons, vanilla cupcakes and cakepops. The decorating can wait until tomorrow. Both kinds of decorating, treats and house.
I go and check on Lucy before I head to bed but I find Ryan taking up my side of the bed and Ed's already out. I can't help but take a picture. My two men are adorable. I don't want to disturb them so I sleep downstairs.
The morning rolls around so I start decorating the cakepops and the cupcakes. The cupcakes are purple with gold sprinkles and the cakepops are yellow with red sprinkles. Everybody will start to come at around 7 so I have 4 hours left to decorate the house. Pinterest is my best friend right now. I make up little gifts for the kids with small toys like cars and play dough to open each hour. Then for midnight I made up a pinata for midnight with some confetti and the normal pinata fillings. I also finish creating the "photobooth" which is just some paper accessories, like glasses and moustaches and my polaroid camera with a wrapping paper background. My polaroid camera has tons of refills so it should last all night.
"This looks amazing " Ed says, eyeing some treats
"Nice try. You'll have to wait until everybody gets here." I tease
Once people start arriving Ryan gets excited. He has some friends to play with at least. Everybody gets a little New Years hat of course. It looks really nice I think. The kids are happy with their little hourly gifts and I'm really happy seeing my friends again.
