Turns out her client was a tool and someone she worked for before with Ibiki. Tazuna the bridge builder had hired Konoha to try and help the Land of The Waves-- so Ibiki was sent out to gather information on the state of the small fishing village. Turns out it had been a total failure and an innocent man was killed and made an example out of by Gato-- the dictator of the country. Though Hitomi didn't leave without taking out one of those bastards eyes before Ibiki pulled her back. They left and Konoha has been secretly helping Tazuna build the bridge by providing the materials, trying to slide under the radar of Gato without any complications. She assumed when she saw the bridge builder that there may have been actual complications as he was here but in reality this probably should have been an A or B rank mission. Though she wasn't complaining and she wouldn't tell anyone her thoughts just in case they were thrown off the mission. Hitomi did want to finally kill that bastard Gato so maybe she'd get her chance.
"Hey brat!" A voice called out. Hitomi turned around to see Ibiki walking with a late Kakashi-- two black cloth materials in his hands. Hitomi walked forward with raised eyebrows.
"What are you doing here, Ibiki-nii?" She asked.
Ibiki raised his own eyebrows, "Ibiki-nii? That's new, when did that happen kid?" He questioned. Hitomi shrugged.
"Yesterday when you made me rice omelettes, un." She answered.
"I always make you rice omelettes brat." Ibiki deadpanned.
"Yeah but I was kind of upset yesterday, anyways, why are you here? Why aren't you at the Intelligence Division building, un?" She asked again.
Ibiki handed her the cloaks in his hands, "I had to give these to you. Happy Birthday, brat." He said. Hitomi took the cloaks in her hands and looked at them. One was a normal black with a white inside and a hood; the other, however, was familiar. It was a black cloak with a high rise collar-- a red seem and red inside cloth also adorning it. It looked exactly like the Akatsuki cloak but without red clouds. Hitomi smiled brightly and slipped the red cloak on-- it had fit perfectly.
"It's your birthday tomorrow, Hitomi-chan?" Sakura asked. Hitomi blushed, she actually didn't want people to know her birthday. A tiny blush was on a her face and she looked away.
"Uh yeah. I'm turning twelve, un." She said.
Naruto and Sakura's eyes widened. "Your eleven! I thought you were older than us!" Sakura exclaimed.
"Yeah, dattebayo!" Naruto agreed.
Hitomi shrugged, "I'm only a couple months behind. The Hokage allowed me to go into your class." She said. As the students talked on about Hitomi's birthday; Kakashi noticed something peculiar. When Hitomi put on that cloak, she looked like she belonged in the Akatsuki. In fact she particularly looked like one of the specific Akatsuki, an explosion arsonist with blonde hair....
Suddenly Ibiki elbowed Kakashi's shoulder, "Take care of her, Kakashi, she's special." Ibiki said with a chuckle and grinned. Kakashi nodded and looked at Hitomi once more.
"Yeah she is..." he muttered. That girl was definitely special and he was determined to find out her real past.
"Oh one more thing, she loves rice omelettem's and the color red." Ibiki said, Kakashi turned to him with a confused look. "Hitomi hates her birthday so usually Anko and I give her the biggest and best birthday party to annoy her. She'll love it secretly." Ibiki said.
"You know this is a mission right, Ibiki?" Kakashi asked with raised eyebrows. Ibiki nodded, a serious look overshadowing his teasing one as he looked to Hitomi.
