"Dad?" The now 19 year old Samantha sat on the landing of the stairs, phone in her lap.
Ashley looked over the edge of the railing, peering down at her with a delicately raised brow. "Yes?"
"Where's mom?" She huffed and looked at the time. "We have to-""Yeah, yeah. I'm coming." Andy came out from behind Ashley and came down the stairs, ruffling her hair as he passed. Samantha scowled at him and stood, following. "What is it you'd like me to do for you, oh sweet daughter of mine?"
"You know what." She rolled her eyes.
"Sassy." Andy laughed. "Alright, sit down." He pat one of the stools that sat at the kitchen island.Samantha did as told and sat delicately, smoothing down her skirt. Andy set the container of hair products and such on the counter top and opened it, grabbing some bobby pins and a hairbrush. He brushed through his daughters long brown hair, smiling fondly as she hummed quietly under her breath, watching out the kitchen window.
They still lived in the cozy penthouse they always had. The one that overlooked the city. It was a view that Andy never got tired of...
It had been over a decade since Andy's captivity, and since he was broken out... Things had been perfect. It took him a while to fully recover from that kind of trauma and scarring, but he eventually did it. He did it for Ashley, and he did it for the kids, and he succeeded. They had many, many years of laughter, family game or movie nights, trips to the park, school plays, choir concerts, the two of them even took turns chaperoning some school dances. The past 14 years had been nothing but pure, beautiful bliss...
Andy put the hair brush down and applied some bobby pins to Samantha's hair, then used some hairspray to keep the pins from falling out of place. He took a step back.
"Alright. Face me." He murmured and watched as she stepped off of the stool, turning to slowly face him. She looked down at her clothing, a long white skirt and a white tee shirt. It was simple; plain and casual, but that was Samantha. Simple, but stunning despite.
"Mom? Are you okay?" She laughed awkwardly as Andy put both hands up to his face. He nodded and lowered a hand, putting it on his hip.
"Yeah, I'm fine. God, my baby is having her ceremony today. You look so beautiful, sweetheart." Andy shielded his eyes from view with a hand. "I'm sorry- I need a minute, wow. I promised I wasn't gonna get emotional like I did at Mike's going-away party, but- Oh my god, princess... You look- you look like a princess."
"Aw, no... Mom, don't cry." Samantha opened her arms and pulled Andy into a hug. "I'll come back and visit sometime, promise."
Ashley appeared downstairs and rolled his eyes. "I told him he wouldn't be able to keep it together." He sing-songed as he passed by them. "By the way, you look beautiful, honey." He pecked Samantha's cheek and went to find the car keys.
Samantha let go of Andy and smiled. "Thanks, dad."
"I suggest you shut it before I leave your sorry ass in the middle of the woods and take your car." Andy threatened under his breath. Ashley rolled his eyes.
"You won't do it."
"No? Maybe not. But I was going to suggest we have some time together tonight to wind down from today's excitement.." He hummed.Samantha wrinkled her nose. "Mom, stop." She groaned.
"Too bad, I already have plans that you can't refuse." Ashley cooed, kissing his nose. Andy smiled, gazing into his eyes.
"Alright, then. I'll just invite my mother."
Ashley's eyes widened. "Fuck, don't you dare."
"Then apologize." Andy huffed.
"I am so sorry for making fun of your totally normal emotional state, and I think you look absolutely gorgeous." Ashley murmured quickly, pecking his lips. Andy tilted his head."Apology accepted." He decided and went to get some shoes on. Ashley and Samantha did the same.
They arrived at the ceremony on time, and Samantha wandered off to find her mate.
This was her mating ceremony. This was the last of them that they'd probably be going to, until they had grandchildren that were going to be mated, that is, and that wouldn't be for a long time. Andy looked around, smiling happily.
It was both because his baby girl was finally going off on her own with the love of her life, and because this ceremony was the first of its kind. Samantha's mate was an entirely human man, so that meant his entire bloodline was human. It took a while for Ashley to adjust to the idea of her going off with a human, but Andy managed to snap him out of his pack-leader mindset so he finally settled with it.
