Chapter One

I really did have a death wish.

I gulped loudly as I carried my lunch toward his table. My heart beat quickly against my chest.

As I got closer, I was aware that he was looking at me now.

His messy dark hair, the square-ness of his jaw, the way his sharp blue eyes met mine, questioning me, or perhaps challenging me. I hadn’t noticed that he was indeed attractive. But nobody who looked that perfect really is perfect.

He was dangerous.

And I was about to sit at his table in lunch.

I don’t know what’s making my feet move toward his table or why my brain is making me sit with him. Certainly, nobody was controlling me. I would feel it if they did.

I stopped at his table and I was aware that everybody was looking at me now.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

“Uh,” I stammered. “Hi.”

He didn’t reply.

“Can I sit here?” I asked.

Once again, no reply.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” I say quietly, and I sit down across of him in the circle table.

I set my bag down and started to stab my food with my fork, poking and playing with it. I didn’t feel very hungry today. I’m too nervous to eat. I didn’t like it when people stared at me and I’m pretty sure everybody in the café was.

I took a glance up at him and he wasn’t staring at me. He was staring below my face. More generally, my plate.

“You want some?” I asked him before I can help myself. I’ve never seen him eat anything before and surely, a guy like him could get really hungry.

There was no reply.

Irritated with his silence, I pushed my tray to him and said, “You can have it. I’m not really hungry anyway.”

Still no words.

He looked at my plate and then back up at me.

I gave him a small smile and he said the first words he’s ever said to me. I will never forget them.

“There’s some brown stuff on your cheek.”

(a/n:) I may or may not delete this. It really depends if this gets popular or not. It's really short, I know. I'll write longer chapters when the story progresses. Well, if it ever does.
