Chapter Six
Her house was huge. There were pretty paintings on the wall and expensive glass vases everywhere.
I shouldn't be in here. I'm really clumsy and I break a lot of stuff.
"Okay, so I've baked a couple of stuff already so you guys can dig in," Raine says.
"Are these cookies carb-free?" A blonde girl asked and sniffed a cookie.
Raine blinked at her as if she was the dumbest girl in the world.
"They're cookies," She says. "They're not supposed to be carb-free."
Blondie rolled her eyes and says, "Whatever."
She puts the cookie down.
"So what do we, like, do now?" A Spanish girl with really big hoop earring asked.
"I don't know," Annie responds. "Raine's hosting the sleepover. Isn't she?"
"Well I was thinking we'd watch a movie or something," Raine responds.
"We should watch The Notebook or Titanic!" Blondie says.
"I don't have those movies," Raine cringes. "I was thinking we could watch an action movie or a horror."
"Um no thank you," Spanish girl replies.
"Yeah, this sleepover is so boring," Blondie says.
Annie rolls her eyes and says,"How about we just play Truth or Dare?"
"Okay then..." Raine says uncertainly.
Maybe I should've said no to Annie when she asked if she could come over.
Annie's lips tilted up into a devious smirk.
"I'll start," Annie says. "Raine, truth or dare?"
Raine's eyes widened when Annie picked her first.
"Uh, truth?"
"Who lives here with you?"
"My parents and my older brother..."
"How old is your brother?" Blondie asks.
"Only by a couple of months," She replies. "We're step siblings."
"Cool," Annie says.
As if on cue, a teenage boy comes down the stairs and into the living room.
"Hey, can I get some cookies?" He asks.
He was completely shirtless (I can't deny it, he was seriously hot) and he had just noticed us.
That wasn't what I was surprised about though. The guy was him. Jason Nixon. The most feared guy in school. The guy who I sat with at lunch.
"God, Jace," Raine groans. "Please put on a shirt."
He grabs a cookie and his eyes hardened slightly when he saw Annie.
"Sorry, I didn't know we had company," He says and stuffs a brownie in his mouth.
He then goes back up, leaving everybody silent.
Annie was the first to speak. "You never told us that your brother was THE Jace Nixon!"
Raine shrugs. "I don't see what the big deal it."
"Do you have any idea of who he is! He's the most dangerous guy in the school- not to mention one of the hottest," Blondie says dreamily.
"I mean, did you see that six-pack he had?" Spanish girl joins in.
"Oh brother," Raine lets out an exasperated sigh and looks at me for my reaction.
I didn't know what I felt at the moment. He didn't recognize me at least.
But maybe that's why Alec told me to be careful earlier.
"Okay," Annie says, changing the topic. "Can we please just get back to the game?"
We continued to play truth or dare and for a while nobody picked me, which I was glad for.
That was until Annie asked me with a devious smirk on her face.
I know I couldn't pick truth. She was just going to use whatever my answer is against me, no matter what it is.
So I ended up saying, "Dare."
Bad move.
She was now grinning evilly at me.
"I dare you to kiss Raine's brother."
