Chapter Nine
Every day last week, I had skipped lunch and did homework in the library. Today, I had to eat lunch.
Not because I wanted to but because I wanted to talk to Jace.
I gulped and ignored everybody's stares. This is the second time I'll be sitting with him. Let's hope he'll be a little bit more friendlier.
I sat down in his table, this time a bit closer to him.
"Hi," I managed to say.
"Hey," He replied back. "You're sitting here again."
"Uh yeah," I shrug. "I have no where else to sit."
"There's plenty of seats that are open," He raises a brow.
"Maybe I don't wanna sit there."
"Why not?" He says in a challenging tone. "You don't want to risk being seen with the scariest guy in school, do you?"
"You're not that scary to me."
He chuckles but looks a bit surprised. "Oh cupcake, you haven't seen anything yet."
"Well I don't really care about my reputation. It's already really low anyway."
"Well so is mine," He cracks out a tiny smile. "I guess we're not really that different."
"Oh trust me," I stared into his bluish-greenish eyes. "I think we really are. Maybe too different to sit with each other."
Keen interest filled his eyes. "And why is that?"
"Because you're ugly and she's stupid," I hear Alec say.
We turned to look at him and he had two buff jocks behind him.
I didn't put a thought to that. He just called me stupid!
"I thought you were the stupid one here, Brown." I say icily, a bit annoyed that he just butted into our conversation.
"Well not at the moment," He says in the same tone.
I narrowed my eyes on him.
Jace rolls his eyes. "What the hell are you doing here Alec?"
"I thought you might want to pick where we left off last time, seeing as your friend interrupted," Alec's eyes burned with fury and I had never seen so much anger off of them before.
Jace smirked. "Are you sure you won't cheat and let your dogs do the work for you? Not that they have a chance."
The two jocks behind Alec growls at Jace.
That's when I noticed that the atmosphere was getting really tense and it was too dangerous for me. I mean, I had no power! I should be running away by now.
But curiosity killed the cat.
I stayed where I was and the two guys who were glaring daggers at each other didn't put a single thought to the girl who could barely throw a punch that could hurt.
Of course, Jace didn't know that though and I intend not to let him know until it's necessary.
"You won't get away this time Jace," Alec says, "Especially not after you said that."
"Why? Did I hit a nerve when I said it?" He had a dangerous smirk on his face now. He had stood up from his seat and was inching closer to Alec.
Alec gets into a lot of fights but I've never seen him so angry. He can use his super speed to his advantage and also, he's really good at martial arts.
