CHAPTER FOUR
It was around two hours later that our results were added and it was predicted who would win. Obviously it was Caleb. He made whopping noises and danced around me in a circle. I was tempted to hit him with the stick.
Apparently it was the person with the least number of points who won. "You know if it was reversed that the person with the most points wins then I would have won." I told him as we handed back our golf clubs.
He grinned at me, "I'm sure you would have."
"So, what are you going to do choose with your winnings?"
He gave me a side long look and said, "I'll have to think about that one."
We walked towards the ice cream parlour were the girls impatiently waited. They were excitedly talking about what to have when we arrived towards them; Isabelle gave me a huge huff of breath and looked at Caleb with annoyance. She didn't say anything else even though Caleb noticed it. He didn't say anything either but had a slight smile on his face.
"Caleb." I complained. "Just let me pay."
He shook his head grinning and paid for all our ice creams. The girls grabbed there's and already ran outside. I could have hit Isabelle for not saying thank you.
We walked outside together; "A gentleman always pays for a girl." he looked at me, grinning. "Unless you're not really a girl?"
"No." I rolled my eyes at him, smiling slightly. "I just don't like other people doing things for me."
"Huh, so you're the independent type then huh?"
"What? No-"
"Caleb." Isabelle was suddenly there, staring up at Caleb with hard eyes. "Mummy said that you're going to be Alleys boyfriend."
Caleb knelt down to her height and grinned. "Is that so?" I hit myself with my hand and blushed a deep colour of red. Caleb looked up at me with amusement.
"Alley said that she shouldn't be a detective because there trying to grow you closer." She said, squinting at him. "Are you going to be Alleys boyfriend?"
"Isabelle!" I hissed.
Caleb didn't laugh any longer but looked at Isabelle with a genuine seriousness. "Actually were just good friends Isabelle."
Those were the few words that every girl dreaded to here. Just friends, ouch. He may as well of just stabbed me in the heart. What are you talking about Alley? You are just friends. You don't like him that way. There was battle going through two parts of me- one was my brain and the other my heart. I wished both of them would just shut up.
"What?" I blinked confusedly at Bell because they were both looking at me, and Isabelle was staring at me with irritation.
"I said my feet hurt, can we please go home?" She said.
I nodded and she left with Anna over the bridge skipping and linking arms. "Since when did they become BFF's?" Caleb laughed, watching them go.
"Apparently they've been friends this whole year." I shrugged. "Look Caleb..." My voice strained. "I'm sorry about that; she's never done that before."
