CHAPTER THIRTY
"Alley!" A high pitched voice screamed, causing me to cringe. "Hey Alley! Wait up!"
I frowned and turned around. My silence was deafening... yeah okay that doesn't make much sense. Lets just say I'm extremely shocked.
Because there stood- wait- ran Melanie Casio towards me?
I turned around to see people stopping and staring. OK... She was talking to me.
She gave a high pitched giggle. "Yes, I'm talking to you. Wanna walk with me? Great." She grabbed my arm like it was ridiculous for anyone to ever say no to her.
I stumbled as she dragged me along with her.
To say that this was extremely weird would be an understatement.
It was a Monday, the worst day of the week if you ask me. I spent Sunday making myself at home in the Conners household by moving more of my stuff in the spare room.
And now, just after walking out of my car- yeah that's right, I took my own car. Caleb left without me this morning. Apparently he likes to leave early and go to the gym... I mean did he even consider that I would have liked to come?
Maybe just to stare...
"Alley? Are you listening to me?" I snapped out of my day dream. Melanie gave me an irritated look. "I said what do you have first?"
We stepped inside the school, a random guy opening it for her. His eyes were glazed over as he stared after her. She didn't even notice.
I swear if I kept frowning like this, it's going to permanent. "Uh English."
"Oh damn." She pouted. "I have Drama."
Wow, her dramatic? Who knew? Note my sarcasm.
"Um Melanie.." I cautiously objected. "Why are you talking to me?"
We arrived at my locker and I started to unload my books. I paused to see her frowning at them, hasn't she ever seen books? "I noticed that you only have that one little red headed bitch as a friend and I thought to myself-" Her eyes snapped towards me. "That you could do way better."
"Uh-"
"I mean after what she did to me!" She exploded. "I'm really going to get her back for what she did."
I froze. "What are-" I gave a nervous cough. "What are you going to do?"
Remember when I used to say that Sam had an evil look in her when she was going to do something bad? Well, let's just say that Mel took it to a whole other level.
I wanted to pee my pants she was that scary.
"Let's just say that it wont be pleasant."
I blinked back my shock. "Mel you hate me. Really, really hate me. Why are you-"
"I hate her more." She interrupted. "And I told you, she's going to pay."
"But what about Caleb?" I shut my mouth immediately and gripped my books to my chest. As if they could give me some kind of protection or something. I wish.
She paused before giving a shrug. "I'm over him." Before I could say anything, the bell rang. "I'll see you at lunch." She smiled sweetly and strutted down the hall, her hips flying.
I don't know how long I stood there for but I finally snapped out of my shock and practically ran towards my classroom.
I was the last to go in, the final bell ringing just as I stepped inside. Mrs Norway gave me a warning look as I sat down in my seat.
