P.S. As of the moment all of my friends have boyfriends/girlfriends. Sad right? #onlysingleoneleftinthegroupanditsreallyfuggingannoying . So my fanfiction is now currently my boyfriend. I have to admit though, my crush. Flirtatious #notsolonelyafterall ]
~Zayn's POV~
Rachel's mom never wants to see my face again. She kicked me out of the house. Right after Rachel kissed me. Will anything ever go right?
Rachel agreed to a relationship with me though. She wants to take it slow. I kept playing all the events out in my head. So Rachel and I will take it slow. Unless of course she is so taken under by her mother's words that she decides to call the whole thing off.
I continue to sit on the porch, wanting to clear my mind. There was no way I was getting drunk, I wanted to show Rachel and her mother that I've changed. That I had my problems under control. I had gotten better at it, completely cutting off the alcohol, but I still occasionally smoke.
Which is what I decided to do now. I glanced back at the house, making sure Aunt Samara was still asleep on the couch through the window. I pick up the loose floorboard on the porch and take out the hidden Altoids bin.
Aunt Samara never approved of me smoking, so I always had to do it in secret. Being half way across the states at Berkeley helped, but at Berkeley I had my unfinished business with Rachel. Trying to prove to her I was a better person.
I continued to sit on the swing I had built into the porch for Aunt Samara, smoking. I didn't stop until it got dark and I headed inside after putting the Altoids bin back. I went into my room and read until I fell asleep.
------------------
For a split second the next morning, I forgot about everything that had happened. It was a pure moment of bliss, then it slowly came back. The kiss, then Rachel's mom kicking me out.
My original plan for today was to go back to Rachel's for Christmas and give her a second gift I had picked out before we came back to Virginia. It still laid on my bedside table, waiting to be opened.
I knew I couldn't go back. It was only eight, so I decided to make some breakfast for Aunt Samara and I. Of course, I wasn't that good of a cook. I could cook mac and cheese and toast, but I was killer at making pancakes, eggs, and bacon. My dad taught me back when I was eight.
Aunt Samara was still in bed, sleeping soundly. I crept into the kitchen and started making the pancakes and getting the bacon out of the fridge. By the time I was done cooking the eggs, bacon, and pancakes it was nine-thirty.
I set out the plates on the table with the food already on them. I poured Aunt Samara some sweet tea while I settled for a glass of milk. I then went back to Aunt Samara's room and gently woke her up.
"Aunt Samara," I whisper, shaking her shoulder. She opens her eyes half way, looking at me questioningly. "It's Christmas, I have a surprise for you."
I coax her out of bed, guiding her towards the kitchen. Her eyes light up when she sees the meal I set out for us and gives me a hug.
"Thank you, Zayn. This is so sweet! I couldn't have asked for anything better!" She exclaims, now fully awake. For a sixty year old, she sure had a lot of energy. She took a seat across from my seat and immediately started to dig in.
