~Zayn's POV~
We stayed at the hospital for the next couple of days. Rachel and Louis never left the room, not even to get food. I brought food for Rachel, making sure she had something in her system. But even then, she hardly ever ate.
Louis always declined food, and even when I brought a piece of bread up to him, he threw it away. They both started to grow worse by the day.
Rachel never slept. Rings of a deep purple colour formed under her eyes. Her hair became matted because she never combed it, and only showered every other day in the bathroom attached to Harry's room. She ended up falling asleep curled up next to me on the fold out bed every night, and even in sleep, frown lines crossed her face.
Louis was even worse. He always stayed by Harry, never leaving the chair next to his bedside unless it was to use the bathroom. He never showered, and he had begun to smell.
Not only rings had formed under his eyes, but bags too. Even though it had only been a couple of days without eating, Louis was already becoming skinny. His small stomach had began to become a little less round.
By the fourth day, Alayna and Niall had dropped their plans and rushed to Harry's aid. I couldn't help but notice how Niall continuously stared longingly at Alayna, still wishing for their vacation.
Rachel had built up small bursts of energy once Alayna and Niall got here, knowing how tough Alayna would get on her if she noticed something off. But as of the moment, everything was off.
Harry had remained steady. Food and water was constantly being pumped into his system, and his skin color went from a ghastly white to an in between shade of it's usual tan and paleness. He was patchy to say the least.
His heart rate was steady, but his blood pressure was high. Whenever Harry had seemed the slightest bit better, even if it was just a twitch of his fingers, Louis would perk up, but quickly went back to slouching when he realized Harry would not awaken.
Alayna and Rachel chattered away on the pullout couch. Niall tried to make conversation with Louis, but only got groans or a mumble in response.
After what seemed like forever of sitting in a hospital -even though it had only been five days- Rachel decided to leave Harry's bedside. Even if it was only for a hour or so.
"Zayn, do you mind if we go do something different for a little while?" Rachel asked, getting up and brushing some invisible dust off her pants. Alayna went to stand up too, but slowly sat back down as she realized Rachel needed some alone time.
"Sure, where do you want to go?" I respond, jumping out at the opportunity to get out of this depressing hospital. I pull the keys out of my pocket and start to make a move for the door, when I notice she isn't following me.
"Maybe we shouldn't," Rachel says, glancing down at Harry. She was second-guessing herself. I wanted to roll my eyes and say can you please just get out of here with me, but I swallowed it down.
This time, Alayna does get up, resting a hand on Rachel's shoulder. "You should just get out of here. You've been here for what? Five days? Harry still isn't moving-" Alayna glances at Louis. "-Sorry... but you really should take a break."
"Yeah, come on. We can have some fun," I say, trying to sound excited. It only comes out pushy and exasperated, but it was enough to push Rachel to get out of here.
"Okay," she groans. "Are you okay with this, Louis?"
"Go ahead and go, you could use it."
"What about you? You could use it too," she pleads. What was she doing? As much as I enjoyed Louis' company, I didn't want him being all broody and moody in the car... while stinking it up.
