I don’t know what it is with people and pulling on me but I felt Justin pull on my arm, dragging me towards the mob of football players that were headed for the locker room. The smell of all the cologne choked me while we inconspicuously made our escape. We followed the players all the way out into the hall before Gator saw us and motioned for us to come outside with him.

Once outside, Justin released my arm and apologized, “Sorry, I just knew we were going to get attacked.”

I giggled a little, “it’s ok.”

It was quiet for a minute before Justin turned to me, a bit flushed, and asked, “So, I was wondering if, before the game, you wanted to go get some…uhh…what was it called?” He wondered, looking for Gator’s help.

“It’s called Blueberries, JB,” Gator smirked.

“Yeah.”

I looked at both of them for a short moment before I sighed, “yeah, I have nothing better to do for the next three hours.”

“Great,” Justin smiled.

Gator looked around the corner of the building before turning back to us saying, “You better go now before they find out where y’all went.”

“Blueberries is right across the street, let’s go.”

Blueberries is a frozen yogurt place that a lot of people go to after school, but today everyone would be headed home to get ready for the game. We sat in the corner anyways, just in case. I put my knapsack on the table in the far corner of the seating area and followed Justin to the yogurt machines.

“Do you want to share? If I eat too much cold stuff I start to cough…” I asked, looking down, embarrassed.

“Yeah,” he smiled, “what flavor do you want?”

“My favorite is pomegranate and blueberry,” I said and pointed to where it was.

He pulled the lever down, the bright red frozen yogurt filling the bowl in his hand.

“Do you like sour patch kids?” he asked, heading for the toppings counter.

“I actually don’t, they’re too sour for me,” I said.

“Here,” he smiled and passed me the small bowl, “put whatever you want on it.”

I looked at the yogurt and then topped it with white chocolate chips and a few strawberries then I handed it to the person behind the counter and reached for my wallet when he pulled me back.

“I’m going to pay for this.”

I blushed and nodded.

He handed the guy behind the counter exact change and headed for our table, but I remained there, looking at the smoothie menu and holding my wallet.

“Can I get a watermelon and honeydew smoothie?” I asked and handed him a bill.

“Yeah, I’ll bring it to your table.”

“Thank you, keep the change.” I thanked and joined Justin at the table just as a family came in the door.

“You could have let me pay for that,” he said, mouth full of yogurt.

“I don’t want to seem like a moocher,” I laughed.

He handed me a lime green spoon, “this is really good. I was kind of skeptical about it, but you’re quite an amazing frozen yogurt flavor chooser,”

“um, thanks,” I said, taking a mouthful just as the man from behind the counter came and set down the smoothie on the table.

“Here, I want you to try this,” I mumbled, passing the smoothie to him.
