Chapter 43

- K I O N N A P O V -

I had the day off today so I took this day to go get things ready for Cameron's birthday next week. Can't believe my boy is gone be six with his little bad ass. Me and Kira decided to do separate birthday parties this year but we was still gone shop together.

I rolled over expecting to see Que but I didn't so I just got up and started getting ready.

I took a shower in my peach mango soap and when I got out I wrapped my towel around me and started brushing my teeth. I dried off and put on a pair of dark blue true religion skinny jeans and a white tank top with a red Elmo hoodie. I put my all red chucks on and then I flat ironed my hair and put it to the side. I transferred all the things I would need out of my pocketbook into a small backpack and then went down stairs and grabbed a cup cake pop tart. Right when I grabbed my keys my phone started ringing. " Hello. " I said answering my phone.

" What's up shawty? " Jeremy spoke.

" Hey Jeremy. " I said.

" What's your plans for today? " he asked me.

" Well I was going to go out with Kira but she texted me while I was in the shower saying she couldn't come so I was just gone out by myself. " I said truthfully cause Kira did cancel on me.

" Oh mind if I come with you then? "

" I guess not. " I said.

" Wait where you going? " He asked.

" I'm going to start getting things for Cameron's birthday party. " I said.

" Aight I'll meet you at your house in 20. " he said.

" No let me come to your place. " I said quickly.

I wasn't gone risk Que coming home and finding my car here and I was out with Jeremy cause I be damned if me and Que gone argue over something so stupid and childish.

" Okay sure? " he said in a questioning tone.

" I'll be there in a little while. " I said hanging up the phone.

I bent down to tie my shoe and then I grabbed my keys and just as I was walking out the front door I ran into Que and Cameron.

" Ouch damn that hurt. " I said rubbing my forehead.

" My bad. Where you going? " Que asked me.

" I'm going to go get things for Cameron's birthday party. " I said.

" I want to go. '' Cameron said.

" You can't go this time. " I said.

He nodded and then jumped out of Que's arms and ran into the house and up the stairs to his room I'm guessing.

Que reached in his pocket and tried to hand me two rolls of money and it was nothing but hundreds. " Que I don't need that. " I said.

" Here just take it. " he said.

" Baby I don't need it and plus its to much money anyway. " I said.

" Kionna we not gone argue. Take the money okay. I don't want you paying for his birthday party. I got it this time. " he said.

I crossed my arms cause I wasn't gone take the money but Que pulled me towards him and stuck the money in my backpack. " Que.." I whined.

He kissed me sweetly and then pulled back. " Have fun. '' he said.

" You too and watch Cameron carefully. " I said.

" Girl I know how to watch my son. " be said laughing.

" I know. I just really want you to watch Cameron closely. " I said.

I hugged him and then left to go get Jeremy.

I pulled up to his house naw scratch that I pulled up to his mansion. This nigga was doing it big I mean like damn but then I did forget Jeremy plays football.

He walked outside and got in my car.

" What's up? " he said hugging me.

" Hey. " I said.

I could smell Jeremy's cologne and it was strong. Truth be told I've been avoiding Jeremy for a while cause I think I might have some feelings for him but I didn't want to think about it so I kept my distance from him.

" So where we going? " he asked.

" Well I wanted to go to Mama's Cakeria so I can get Cameron a cake made and then to Party Decorations to get his decorations and to the mall so I could buy him a few gifts. " I said driving.

" Okay. How old his little dude? " he asked me.

" He'll be turning 6. " I said.

" Can I come to the party? "

" Jeremy I don't know. " I said uneasy.

" Come KeKe what's the worst that could happen? You've been knowing me since preschool. Im not gone try to mess with you and Que relationship if that's what you worried about. " he said.

" I'm not worried about that. Its just-

" Oh I get it you worried about how he gone react cause he don't like me. " Jeremy said cutting me off.

" No. " I said gripping the steering wheel.

" So why can't I come then? " he asked.

" Fine Jeremy you can come. Just don't try anything at the party. '' I said giving in.

He smiled and then turned up the radio in my car. I was playing pandora and songs was just playing. I was in traffic cause school is gone start in 2 weeks and people was getting their kids clothes and school supplies. See me I ain't have to worry about that cause I had already gotten Cameron his things. He already has so many clothes and half of them still got the price tag on them so I haven't bought him any clothes yet. While waiting in traffic my favorite old song came on.

By the time I finished the song we were at Mama's Cakeria looking for a parking spot. I found one and I could feel Jeremy looking at me. " What? " I asked.

" You still got that voice. " he said smiling at me.

" What you mean? " I asked.

" You can still sing in the voice that I loved when we were in school together. " he said.

I thought about it and there was a voice that I would sing in when I was jamming to a song and I could understand the song.

" Whatever Jeremy. " I said playfully rolling my eyes.

We got out the car and walked inside of Mama's Cakeria. " Welcome how may I help you? " a woman said.

" I would like to place an order for a birthday cake. " I said.

" Okay do you know what kind you want or would you like to look through the book and see? " she asked.

" Um can I look through the book? " I asked.

" You sure can. Here you go. " she said handing me a book that was just as big as me.

" I got it. " Jeremy said taking the book.

Me and Jeremy sat down at a booth and looked through the book.

" So what does he like? " Jeremy asked referring to Cameron.

" He likes Spider-Man, Iron Man, and BatMan. " I said.

" Why don't you have them make a cake that has all the superheroes on it and then it says Happy 6th Birthday Cameron. " Jeremy said.

" I like that idea. " I said smiling.

" I know. " he said nudging me in my arm.

" Boy stop. " I said blushing.

Wait what the hell am I doing? Im happy with Que and I'm over here flirting with Jeremy. Un-Uh can't be doing that.

" Uh come on let's go put the order in for this cake. " I said.

We walked up to the counter and I put in the order that I wanted and of course Jeremy ass paid for it before I could even turn around.

" Stop doing that. " I groaned walking back to the car.

We both got in the car but this time I let him drive. " Stop doing what? " he asked cranking up the car.

" Paying for everything I get. " I said.

" Kionna I've always done that for you. Every since we was in middle school I would do that and you know it. Just cause we grown now don't mean I'm gone stop doing it. " he said.

" Whatever. " I mumbled.

He looked at me and then shook his head and head to the mall to get everything else cause he said he wanted to pay for it as usual.

" Your total is 145.15 " said the clerk.

We were currently in Footlocker and Jeremy bought Cameron two pair of shoes and bought me a pair and himself a pair too. We walked out of the store and Jeremy was carrying everything cause he wouldn't let me.

" Oh come on Kionna cheer up. I'm just being a gentleman. " he said.

" Jeremy Im so used to doing things on my own that its become a habit and I don't like people doing things for me. " I said.

" How long you and Que been together? " he asked.

" 5 years going on 6. " I answered.

" So when he takes you out to the mall does he carry your bags for you? " he asked.

" What's that got to do with anything? " I questioned.

" Answer the question. " he said.

" No- "

Jeremy shook his head and then we went to Party City looking for decorations.

" I like these. " I said grabbing Jeremy's arm and showing him what I was talking about.

I looked up and saw he was smirking at me and I gave him a questioning look and I followed his eyes realizing that I had me and his hand interlocked together. I quickly snatched my hand away from his and looked away from him.

I walked off and started getting the things that I thought Cameron would like for his birthday party. Just as I was about to pull out a hundred from the money Que gave me this morning Jeremy tall ass came and paid for it.

" Damn it Jeremy. " I said.

He smiled at me then winked.

After a while me and Jeremy had did a lot of shopping and it was dark so I wanted to get home to make dinner for Que and Cameron cause knowing Que they probably haven't even ate. They probably been playing the game or dancing around or maybe Que even took Cameron to the studio. Hell I don't know what they did.

I pulled up to Jeremy's house and he looked over at me. " I had fun today with you. " he said.

" Same here. " I said quietly.

I waited for him to get out the car but he never did. " Not trying to sound rude but could you get out please. I want to get home so I can make Que and Cameron dinner. " I said as nice as I could.

" Kionna I got to tell you something. " he said looking at me seriously.

A lumped formed in my throat cause I was scared of what he was gone say.

I nodded since that was all I could do.

" Kionna I been in love with you since the 8th grade and when we started talking again I felt those feelings that I had for you back in school again. I know you got a man but I can treat you and your son a hell of a lot better than what he can. I know you say that you happy and I can see that you are but with me you can be happier. I can give you things that he can't. Kionna I know things about you that I'm pretty sure you haven't told him. I know that you not gone leave him for me and to be honest I'm not expecting you to but when he fucks up cause trust me he will just know that I'll be here for you. " Jeremy said and I could tell that he meant every word that he said.

I couldn't even say anything cause I mean he just poured his heart out to me. What can I say? I just looked at him and he leaned in slowly.

He leaned in more and kissed me. I'm not gone lie I kissed him back but I pulled back as soon as I realized what I was doing.

" Jeremy I think that you should get out. " I said wiping my lips slowly thinking about what just happened.

He nodded his head and then kissed my forehead then grabbed his things and got out the car. I waited for him to get inside his house safely and then I left to go back home.

I pulled up in the driveway feeling guilty as ever. I laid my head back on the head rest and let out a groan. Jeremy know he wrong for kissing me but I can't say nothing cause I kissed back but I mean I did pull back before anything else happened. As I got out the car grabbing the things that I had gotten today a question kept popping in my head. Should I tell Que or just forget about it?

" Que could you help me?!?! " I called out.

Que came out the kitchen and helped me with the bags I had in my hand.

" ThankYou. " I said.

" Your welcome. " he said kissing me.

When he did that I felt even more guiltier know that I just kissed Jeremy.

" Where's Cameron? " Kionna asked me.

" He's in the bathtub. " I said.

" Oh well are y'all hungry? I was gone make dinner. " she said.

" Naw I just fed him that's why I made him get in the tub cause I know that he's gone fall asleep meaning more time for us. " I said pulling her to me.

When I did that Kionna smelled like cologne and I know damn well I wasn't smelling stuff. " Can you help me carry these into the kitchen? " she asked.

" Yeah I got it. " I said.

I picked up like 10 bags leaving her with one and took it to the kitchen.

" Who'd you go shopping with? " I asked her.

" Kira baby. " she said smiling.

I knew Kionna was lying cause one like I said she came in smelling like cologne and then Kira and Khalil came by here so I don't know who the hell she went out with but I know damn well it wasn't Kira.

" You want to try again cause Kira and Khalil came by here earlier. " I said sitting on the counter.

When I said that Kionna instantly got quiet and she stood still looking nervous.

" Kionna who did you go out with today? " I asked.

" Nobody baby. " she said then she started rambling on and on about what she got Cameron today.

" KIONNA SHUT THE HELL UP!! " I yelled making her jump a little.

She instantly got quiet and I could tell that she was scared. Good.

" Kionna I'm not gone ask you again who the hell did you go out with today and I'm not playing. " I said slowly letting her know I was dead ass serious.

Before she could say anything her phone started ringing. She looked at it and so did I. She tried to get it but I got it before she could.

I answered her phone and it was Kira.

She better be glad it was her and not some nigga.

I told Kira Kionna would call her back and then I looked at Kionna.

" Waiting. " I said.

" If I tell you you can't get mad. " she said.

" KIONNA!! "I yelled.

" Okay since you know that Kira canceled on me I was gone go by myself but right before I was about to leave Jeremy called and he wanted to come so I let him. " she said shaking nervously.

" IS THAT WHY YOU AIN'T ANSWER NONE OF MY CALLS TODAY?!? CAUSE YOU OUT WITH OTHER NIGGAS NOW!!! " I screamed forgetting Cameron was upstairs.

" What calls? I swear to god I haven't gotten any calls all day long. " she said.

I looked through her phone calls and she wasn't lying she didn't get my calls so I let that one go but I'm still mad at the fact that she went out with another nigga.

" Okay but that still don't change the fact that your ass went out with another nigga. " I said.

" Que I'm sorry but I didn't want us arguing like we're doing now. " she pleaded.

" I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!! " I yelled.

" YOU ACTING LIKE ME AND HIM HAD SEX!! " she screamed.

" I don't know did you? " I asked.

No sooner I said that she slapped me across my face and I felt my anger rising and I did something that I promised her I'd never do.





I fucking hit her then I backed her into the wall harshly.


" I DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU IT WAS OKAY FOR YOU TO SLAP ME BUT DON'T EVER IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE DO THAT AGAIN!! " I yelled harshly in her face.

" LET ME GO!! " she cried.

" If I don't what you gone do. '' I said coldly.

'' Daddy let mommy go. You're hurting her. '' Cameron said tugging at my leg.

Im guessing he heard all of the screaming and fussing that we was doing and got scared. I let Kionna go slowly and Cameron ran over to Kionna and she held him tightly.

I'm fucking up and I'm fucking up badly and then it's another nigga just waiting to take my spot. Lord help me. I ain't trying to lose Kionna or Cameron.
