beacon

From within the
spinning hallucinations
emerges a beam of light;
a beacon.

In the absence of everything
you stood,
and you were light itself

And so beautiful, you
blotted out any darkness
that rested between
my skin and bones
and corrupted me.

You unfolded the light
like a piece of paper
and I lay between
the dove-white sheets
and curled my body around yours
to protect its splendor.

And here we lie,
forever learning
forever leaving
forever staying.

For we are everything,
the air we breathe,
the slipping time
the sunlight on the ocean.

I hope people
will remember us
Like how you
remembered me.
