"A party?"
"Yeah a party! For your guy's victory at that battle last night!" Steven was busy setting up balloons and tables on the beach, the other gems helping him.
"There was no way he was going to take no for an answer," Pearl said, "so it's better just to go along with it." She set table cloths down on the tables and taped them to the legs.
I laughed some and went over to Pearl, helping her with the table cloths. "This is really nice...thanks all of you," I said, pulling Peridot over to help with something.
"Honestly this is the least we can do. Had you two not been able to fight that giant fusion...we wouldn't have won the fight. Even Garnet was frozen when she appeared," Pearl dusted off her hands and put them on her hips.
"It is true. Obsidian just made me stop in my tracks. I couldn't move," Garnet set a large box down in the sand and straightened herself to look at Pearl, "without me we couldn't make Alexandrite. Which at the time would've been helpful. Especially with how large that fusion was. I'm surprised even you two were able to take her on. I saw only two possibilities for the future. One was you two taking on the fusion and both ending up being shattered. But the other was the one that happened which was with you two beating the fusion. I'm glad the second one was the one that happened." A smile crossed her lips and she patted my shoulder.
"Yeah you two are part of the team now. So we care about you guys too," Amethyst tied the last of the balloons to the tables and joined the little circle we had going on around Peridot and I.
"I was amazed at how even though Tanzanite almost fell apart, you two were able to comfort each other enough to keep her stable so she could keep fighting. She was the embodiment of your love. And she was the embodiment of your trust towards each other," Pearl put her hand on my other shoulder and smiled as well, "your fusion is something to look up to. Even though she's only the size of Opal...her strength comes from within. And she wasn't going to let you two be shattered."
I glanced at Peridot and smiled at her, taking her hand and squeezing it gently.
"Because we wouldn't let each other be shattered."

The party started off really well. Steven's father showed up to give us music. And in the mean time, all of us danced to the music. But it really only felt like Peridot and I were there...dancing (of course she was using those weird paint can things Steven gave her so she could reach my height). But it felt great to be able to be this close to her, even if the other gems were around us.
"Lapis...Tanzanite kept collapsing...was that you going through what you felt as Malachite again?" Peridot squeezed my hand a little and I looked away.
"Yeah. I-I kept thinking I was back as Malachite again. So I was breaking down...but I heard your voice and it drove all the demons away," I smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek, "and I woke up from the horrible dream I had been having. You were there, not Jasper. And you helped me to my feet."
"And that's when Tanzanite went back to her whole strength," she pulled away a bit and looked into my eyes. I felt myself begin to blush and I quickly buried my face in her neck. "Yes. All because of you," I laughed a little, "she really is the embodiment of our love and trust towards one another."
The slow song that had been playing stopped so Peridot and I pulled away for a faster song, but they just put on another slow song, Steven giving us a thumbs up from the DJ stand. I looked around and saw that all the other gems had stepped off of the dance floor.
It really was just Peridot and I dancing now. So we pulled each other close again and began dancing. "You know if we're not careful we might fuse," she whispered in my ear. I laughed a little and shrugged. "If we fuse then I could care less. As long as I'm with you," I pressed a kiss to her cheek, "you're the only thing that can hold our fusion together."
"That's not true. You and I both know that. You hold Tanzanite together as much as I do," she flicked my back which made me snort. "I'll trust you on that."
Something about us being together like this, just made me feel like I was the happiest gem alive. Peridot being here with me...and me being here in general. I couldn't ask for anything more.

The party ended off strong and we all went our separate ways. I knew it wasn't going to be an overly long flight back to the barn, but I just wanted to spend more time with Peridot. Something inside of me just told me to treat this night like it was our last.
"I'm ready to go when you are," Peridot said, looking up at me. I smiled at her and bent down in front of her, letting her crawl onto my back before I took off into the sky.
"Tonight is so beautiful isn't it?" I asked her, feeling her hand run up and down my arm. "Yeah really pretty. But not as pretty as you," she said back. My face heated up and I giggled a little. "You're such a jerk...but I love you for it." We both laughed about that.
It was so nice for us to be alone again. Even if we couldn't look at each other.
The barn seemed so much eerier when we walked in it. Almost like we didn't belong there. And it never felt like that before. Something just kept nagging at us to leave and stay somewhere else for the night. But my stubbornness wouldn't let me. I couldn't let an odd feeling push me away from my own home.
"I think we should try sleeping tonight," I picked Peridot up and took her to the bed of the truck we sat on a lot, "it might be good for us."
Peridot gave me an odd look before shrugging and letting out a sigh. "Yeah maybe. I am feeling what humans call 'tired'" she chuckled a little and laid down beside me, moving close to me as I laid down with her,"Night Lapis..."
"Night Peridot."

I don't know what it was...but something woke me up. I looked to both sides of me and Peridot was no where to be found.
"Peridot?" I stood up and started looking around.
Suddenly I was struck in the back of the head and everything went black.
I opened my eyes at some point later, only to be unhappily greeted by a whole group of Quartz Soldiers surrounding me.
"Ugh," my head turned to the side for the sound and my eyes widened. "Peridot!" I tried to get up to go to her but I was suddenly zapped by a strong electrical current that dropped me back to the ground.
"Lapis don't move anymore! It just hurts worse the more you move!" She told me. She had bruises all over her face like she had tried to fight them.
"Lapis Lazuli. And Peridot from the failed Earth mission," one of the Quartz soldiers stepped forward, pulling her weapon from the gem on her arm, "for your tyranny against homeworld and the diamonds. You will be shattered without trial or a shed of doubt. Your shards will be left here to turn into our monsters we use to terrorize the Crystal Gems."
The moment I heard shattered I began to cry. How could this happen? How did they know where we were?
We were going to be shattered.
"Please shatter me first!" I screamed, trying to squirm out of my restraints. They just zapped me again at a higher voltage.
"No! Lapis don't say that!" Peridot screamed back, her eyes too filled with tears, "I couldn't stand to watch you die right in front of me."
"And you think I could handle seeing it be you?" I slammed my head against the ground. "Let them shatter me. Please."
One of them grabbed me by my hair and jerked me up so I was sitting upright.
"Well since you said please. We'll just make sure you watch her die!" She laughed, making sure my head couldn't turn away.
Another one grabbed Peridot and pulled her up so her head was looking up at the soldier in front of her.
"Peridot! I love you! Always know that!" I cried, wishing I could help her. But I couldn't.
This was the end for us.
"I know..." She said, the tears falling down her cheeks.
"And I love you too Lapis."
That was when my whole life fell apart.
The Quartz soldier that had her weapon out shoved it deep into Peridot's head.
The whole world seemed to stop and her body just disappeared as the shards of her gem dropped to the ground.
"No Peridot!" I screamed, my head falling forward. "Peridot!"
I couldn't feel anything, my whole body was numb. She was the only one I ever loved...my soulmate. And now she was dead. Shattered. No longer in existence.

The soldier walked away from Peridot's shards and made her way over to me, standing behind me.
I finally had accepted my fate. Peridot was dead...so I had nothing to live for. Any fight that had been left in me...was dead. Shattered along with the one I had loved.
That was when everything went black for the last time.
This was a slumber I was never going to wake up from.
