Chapter 19

Nathan's POV

Nathan, where are you? A thought suddenly popped up in my mind. Caitlyn, is that you? I sent a mind message back to her, hoping to get an answer.

No answer. Oh no. Caitlyn must be in trouble. I grabbed my phone and clicked onto the GPS app, searching for Caitlyn's IP address.

"Mate, what are you doing?" Tom's voice distracted me. "Shush, Parker" I answered. "This is a life and death situation" I snapped.

"Oh no what's wrong?" Tom asked again. "Caitlyn may be kidnapped" I started to panick. "Again?" Tom asked.

"I think Caitlyn may be kidnapped. Again" I let out an over-dramatic sigh. "Not again" Tom groaned. Ignoring his complaints, I continued, "Caitlyn sent me a mind message, asking me where I am."

"I think that she may be in trouble. I tried sending her a mind message, asking her where she was, but no answer" I said in an exasperated tone.

"But how is that even possible?" Tom shot a puzzled look at me. "What do you mean by that?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"It's impossible for Caitlyn to send a mind message to you unless..." Tom paused for a while and cast a worried look at me.

"What?" I asked him anxiously. "That can only happen when she's turned" Tom gave me a sympathetic look. "WHAT?!" I yelled and ran my fingers through my hair.

"Caitlyn could possibly die if she loses too much blood!" I started walking in circles and running my fingers through my air over and over again. Stupid obvious signs of stress and anxiety.

"This can't do" I suddenly shot up from the bed. "Mate you can't go alone" Tom reappeared in front of me and held up a hand in a bid to stop me from leaving.

"WHAT IS YOUR F****** PROBLEM?!" I screamed at Tom, who looked like he had hurt in his eyes. "MY GIRLFRIEND IS IN DANGER AND YOU EXPECT ME TO SIT HERE AND WATCH HER DIE IN THE ARMS OF SOME F****** VAMPIRE?!" I continued ranting.

"Mate, calm down" Tom put his hand on my shoulder and tried calming me down. "You need to understand that this vampire may be stronger and faster than you, so you need company - all of us to join you. Five against one" Tom crossed his arms and frowned at me.

"What" I answered crankily. "Who do you think will win?" Tom sneered. "whatever" I rolled my eyes. "BOYS!" Tom called out.

"YEAH?" They all answered in unison from the foot of the stairs. "COME HERE! WE NEED YOUR HELP!" Tom yelled back.

In a flash a breeze blew which caused the curtains to sway from the strong wind and the boys were already up here. Wow, that was really quick.

"Why did you call us for?" Jay asked us. "Caitlyn may be kidnapped" Tom said solemnly. "Ugh. Not again" Everyone's groans filled the room.

"Oh shut up" Tom snapped at them. "This is really serious" Tom continued, getting silence and worried looks from everyone.

"Caitlyn sent a mind message to me, asking me where I was. I already suspected that she was in danger. I told Tom about it, and he made a really good point. It's impossible for Caitlyn to send mind messages unless she's turned" I finally spoke up.

The room was dreadfully silent until I heard many gasps from the three of them who were initially unaware of what's going on. I guess my words had finally registered into their brains by now.

"Come on! Let's go!" Tom finally broke the awkward silence. "Team The Wanted!" We all chorused before using our strong sense of smell to track Caitlyn's possible whereabouts.

"Found it!" Seev suddenly spoke up. "It must be that warehouse" Max added. "Come on. Let's go!" Tom signalled for everyone to head over to the old-looking and dilapidated warehouse.

We edged closer and closer to Caitlyn's scent and in a swift motion we were swept into a dark and empty room.

"Caitlyn!" I yelled. I crouched down beside Caitlyn and brought her close to me, completely broken by her lifeless body.

No, this can't be happening. I ran my fingers through my hair repeatedly and messed it all up.

"Mate, you have to calm down" Max placed a hand on my shoulder. "I CAN'T! I PROMISED TO PROTECT HER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE BUT I AM A HORRIBLE MONSTER WHO SIMPLY LEFT MY GIRLFRIEND TO DIE!" I wept loudly.

I buried my head in Tom's shoulder and sobbed. I can't believe that this happened again.

"Erm guys?" Seev cleared his throat. "What" My voice cracked, annoyed by his sudden disturbance.

"All you have to do is give her your blood and she'll wake up!" Seev threw his hands in the air.

"Oh yeah" I scratched my head sheepishly. "Why didn't I think of that?" I facepalmed myself.

I bit my wrist; crimson red blood starting flowing mercilessly. I winced at the pain but I had to do this for my mate's sake.

I gently pressed my wrists to Caitlyn's lips and tilted her head slightly so that the blood was poured down her throat.

"Great so she'll wake up in no time" Seev shot us a wide grin, certainly most pleased with his clever suggestion.

"Thanks so much, mate" I smiled for the first time ever since Beth's suicide attempt. "I really owe you one, Seev" I smiled at him.

"Caitlyn!" I shook her gently when I felt her move slightly. "Ugh. Where am I?" she groaned. "You're with me and the lads, Caitlyn. You're safe with us"

"My throat hurts" Caitlyn's voice cracked. "We need to bring her go hunting" Max said sternly.

"NO" Caitlyn protested firmly. "I'm NOT gonna take the lives of innocent people" Caitlyn retorted.

"But Caitlyn, this is the only way to keep you going as a vampire" Tom added. "I don't care!" Caitlyn rebutted.

"I never wanted to be a bloodsucking monster anyway. Just let me die" she snapped.

"But... We'll be together forever, don't you wanna be with me for the rest of your life?" My voice quivered slightly.

"I'd rather die than be a cruel and unfeeling monster who kills innocent people for their own cravings. WHY DID YOU EVEN SAVE ME IN THE FIRST PLACE? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST LET ME DIE?!" Caitlyn screamed at me.

"I'd rather die than be a cruel and unfeeling monster who kills innocent people for their own cravings. WHY DID YOU EVEN SAVE ME IN THE FIRST PLACE? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST ME DIE?!"

Caitlyn's words were constantly ringing in my head and hit me like a dagger. So she'd rather be a human and leave me all alone once she's dead and gone, lonely and broken?

"You do know that you can become human again right?" I finally broke the deadly silence that filled the atmosphere.

"You just need to avoid blood for the next twenty days" I said before turning around to see all four boys with aghast looks on their faces.

"Bye guys, I'm going hunting" I said coldly with an emotionless expression on my face before leaving the room.

Now I'm going to lose my girlfriend for good.
