Chapter 9

Caitlyn's POV

           I was so lost and I didn't know where I was. That was when it dawned on me - there was a bloodthirsty vampire chasing after me.

         I ran into the woods, which wasn't actually a very smart idea, but I didn't care. I had to flee for my life before thinking of anything else.

        I decided to seek cover behind a large tree. I waited for five minutes but nothing happened. My breathing quickened as I realized the immense danger that I was in - the vampire could come anytime and kill me right now.

        Waiting and waiting, I reckoned that the vampire may have lost track of me and I decided to run for my life. However, a cold hand grabbed my arm and I let out a yelp of surprise.

        "Nathan?" I gasped. I couldn't believe what I saw. "Yes sweetie?" he asked in a husky tone. "I've come here for you" he smirked which sent shivers down my spine.

        "Now that I found you, you can't run away from me again" he dragged me deep into the forest. "W-what do you w-want from me?" I stammered. That was quite a stupid question actually, for I knew what he was going to do to me.

        His eyes turned a bloody shade of red instead of the usual emerald green colour that I used to find so stunning. I was actually quite terrified because I had never seen Nathan in this hungry state before.

        I was horrified when he revealed his sharp pointed fangs. I now knew the truth - Nathan James Sykes was a vampire. I saw the hunger in his eyes and I knew that I wasn't getting out of here alive.

        I inched away from him, and backed up against a tree, trying to get away from him, but those were just feeble attempts to escape.

        I suddenly felt a sharp piercing pain on my neck and realized what he had done. He had bit me.

        "AHHHHHHHHHH!" I let out a horrified scream. "What's wrong, love?" Nathan asked me worriedly. "Get away from me" I slowly moved away from him.

        "Cait now, what's wrong?" he grabbed my wrist. "Don't touch me!" I yelled before running down the stairs. "Caitlyn!" I could hear Nathan chasing after me.

        "Hey what happened?" Max suddenly questioned and I realized that everyone's eyes were on us.

       "He... he..." I stuttered before slipping into a world of darkness.

Nathan's POV

      "CAIT!" I yelled, shaking her, trying to get her to wake up. "GET OFF HER!" Beth pushed me away. "WHAT?!" I shouted. "What did you do to her?!" she hissed.

       "I didn't do anything to her!" I raised my voice. "She became like that after the nightmare she had just now!" I couldn't believe that Beth actually doubted my words.

       "Then why did she seem so petrified of you? She must've dreamt of you abusing her or something! Now what did you do to her?" she snapped.

       "STOP IT" Tom growled. "We need to take Cait to the hospital first. Leave your arguments for later," he scowled before carrying Caitlyn in bridal style.

       I rolled my eyes at Beth before storming off. I can't believe my ears! I'm not trying to be mean, but I can't believe that Beth actually took sides with an outsider instead of her cousin! To think I took her in and raised her up as her 'brother' when her parents abandoned her. Ungrateful brat.

1 hour later...

        "Are you the family of Miss Lovelace?" the doctor turned to me, seeing me pacing up and down the corridor anxiously.

        "Yes" I nodded. "I'm her boyfriend" I said. "Then what about all of you?" "We're all her friends" Jay answered.

        "Okay Miss Lovelace had a fright just now but you can go in to see her now" the doctor smiled at us. We all thanked him gratefully before entering the room.

        "Caitlyn!" Everyone embraced her in a hug but I simply stood there, knowing that Caitlyn wouldn't wanna see me.

        "Erm guys?" Caitlyn said awkwardly. "Can I have a word with Nathan please?" she raised her eyebrows. "Yeah sure" Max exclaimed before signalling for everyone to leave the room.

       "Nathan, come here" Caitlyn patted on the empty seat beside her, gesturing for me to come over and take a seat.

      "Erm yeah?" I sat down beside her awkwardly, trying to drift away from her as far as possible.

      "I'm sorry, Nathan" I raised my eyebrows at her, astounded. "I'm sorry for reacting like that just now, it's just that I had a horrible nightmare" Tears were forming in her eyes. "It was about you..." her voice cracked slightly.

      "You know that you don't have to tell me if you don't want to" I brushed her cheek lightly. "You were a... vampire" she whispered. "You tried to kill me" I could see the fear in her eyes.

       My eyes widened at what she said. How is that possible that she dreamt of me as a vampire? Unless... It must be the vampire academy! They're trying to expose my identity so they can ruin my relationship with Caitlyn, knowing that they can't get hold of her. Those bastards, I hissed.

      "Erm Nathan, you okay?" Caitlyn held my hand. "Yeah I'm fine," I lied. DAMN. She must've heard me accidentally cursing them out loud.

      "Nathan, are you a...? Caitlyn asked me. "NO, why would I be a vampire?" I defended myself. "Erm how did you know what I was gonna say?" she raised her eyebrows, getting really suspicious.

      "Erm maybe well that's because I can read minds" I shrugged. "What?" she looked at me, shocked. "Oh I meant that I know you too well" I faked a nervous laugh.

      "Okay..." her voice started to trail off. Oh no. She's starting to suspect me now. I better keep up with my act or she's going to find out about my dark secret. I can never ever let her find out my true identity. Over my dead body.

Okay guys sorry for the short chapter cause I don't know what else to write for this chap .
