Ethan's POV

I had to attend this boring party again. These parties never really entertained me. The same old people who are either jealous of my fame, or are keen to bring me down. But I had to attend these for the sake of meeting up with new investors and impressing them.

I looked at my watch and saw the time for the nth time. I had signed a contract with Anderson corporations and have not received a written form of it yet.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to my work. I ask the waiter for a drink and take a seat on the stool.

Shortly after I felt a hand on my thigh. Then I saw who it belonged to. Chloe. She had been one of my flings. She had satisfied me enough. But I lost interest in her as usual.

"Hi Ethan." She said in a screeching voice. I fought the urge to cover my ears with my hands.

"Hey" I replied trying to sound anything but interested.

"It's very nice to meet you again. I missed you so much. Maybe we can go have dinner or something for old times sake." She clearly didn't get the message. She was acting so desperate it was bothering me.

I had to be straightforward with her. It's the problem with some girls. They cant understand the concept of just a fling. I even had to fire my personal assistant as we sort of had a fling but she said it meant more to her. She was stupid to think that of course.

"You already know Chloe. I don't do dating. Just casual flings. And I don't really feel like I am even attracted to you now." I replied monotonously.

Her eyes widened and she quickly removed her hand from my legs.

"I hate you Ethan." And with that she got up and left.

Taking my drink I decided to talk to a few of my investors.

That's when I heard someone calling me. I turned around and collided with someone. My drink spilled all over my suit.

"Jeez....What the-" I said. My attention still on my shirt which was now wet. But then I looked up and saw her. She looked scared and beautiful. She looked innocent and her hazel eyes were a striking shade of gold and green . Her strawberry blonde hairs cascaded down her shoulders. And her skin so lively. Her lips the purest shade of pink and were held in worried frown. Did I mention that she looked breathtakingly beautiful?

"Sorry, Sorry ... I am really sorry sir."  She said in a tone of a nightingale. It wasn't squeaky like I am used to hearing. She was different.

I looked to her hazel eyes and saw fear.  Was she scared of me? Who wouldn't be?  I was known to be ruthless.

I looked down to her body as my eyes raked it. It was a habit of mine. But this felt so different. She wasn't dressed as I had expected. No excessive cleavage show, no tight and small clothes. But she still looked hot. That's when my eyes met with hers again. She didn't look scared now. In fact she looked angry. It really amused me. of course she had a right to be mad at me for checking her out that way, but any other girl in her place would have been pleased.

"I just wanted to give you these documents." She said, clearly annoyed.

"Do I know you?" I asked amused by her anger. She looked really cute.

"I am Sarah Blair, Mr. Anderson's personal assistant. I wanted to give you the copy of the contract." She said as she handed me the papers in a haste. Then she turned around to leave. I didn't want her to leave yet. No one leaves until I tell them to.

Before I could even think of something to say to her, I stopped her by holding her wrist. It was like a reflex. I couldn't help it. As realization hit me of what I had done, I quickly let go of her hand.

"What now? I am sorry Mr. William but I have to leave now. I have given you an extra copy of the document too, if in case you lose it a second time." She says bringing me out of my thoughts. she cant leave now. I have to think of something.

"I had told if I didn't receive the papers within an hour's time, I wouldn't sign anymore contracts. Its been an hour and a half since I said that."

Her eyes widened as I said it. I knew I was being really stubborn right now. And I don't even know if it has been an hour or an hour and a half.  I just said it so she would stay.

Then suddenly she closed her eyes and tried to calm herself.

"Look, Mr. William, I don't think it was my fault that you didn't receive these yesterday. I had given it to your secretary, and she ensured me that she would make sure that these reach you. I am really sorry to inform you that its your own own secretary at fault here." She said with a pained smile.

I got it now. It was Laura's fault. She was obviously pissed of at me after I fired her. So she took those documents and didn't inform me about it. Good thing I fired her. I cant bear anyone causing trouble to my company.

"She wasn't my secretary then. I fired her just yesterday. When you met her, she didn't work for me anymore. So you handed those papers to a nobody. It was your fault. You didn't ask her if she still was my personal assistant." I told her. I know it wasn't her fault, but I was enjoying this a lot.

"She was in your office! She should have said something about being fired. How was it my fault?" she was infuriated now.

"Okay. I get it. Its not your fault that you are incompetent when it comes to the job of a personal assistant." I said with a smile. Her anger amused me. No one has ever dared to use this tone with me.

"How dare you say that? I am the best personal assistant anyone could ever have. And I do my job with utmost dedication. Its sad how easily you can blame others when its all your fault." She said. Her voice laced with hatred.

And with that she left me with my thoughts.
