Kat's Point of View

"Yes," Charlie spoke softly, "I promise."

I nodded before whirling around and running into the prison. I didn't want to leave her. She could get hurt. I didn't want that. Charlie protected me, I liked that.

I was breathing heavy as I ran through the prison, desperate to find someone. I ran directly into someone, falling down onto my butt. I looked up hurriedly, letting out a scream off terror when I saw rotting flesh falling off of its face.

I kicked and pushed my legs, scooting away from the monster. It's eyes, once so full of life, we're now dull and a sickening shade of yellow. A chunk of flesh was missing from its neck - most likely the cause of death.

I shrieked as it fell to its knees, crawling after me faster than I was scooting away. I heard a ringing in my ears and squinted my eyes shut as blood splattered onto me. I opened them to see Glenn.

I smiled and shot up to my feet, quickly hugging him. He let out a cough and wheezed, "Kat, no, you could get sick."

"Glenn! We have to get to the bus!" I said frantically, remembering the reason I was there.

Glenn looked past me, nodding his head, "Yeah, you need to get onto the bus," Glenn agreed. I shook my head quickly.

"No! We need to get everyone onto the bus!" I insisted, grabbing his hand and trying to pull him with me. Glenn sighed and picked me up, lightly jogging further into the prison.

He ran around for a while, attempting to find people. When we did, we sent them to the bus. Eventually, as we were heading back to cellblock C, Maggie found us. She let out a happy sigh and took me from Glenn, hugging him with me kinda sandwiched in the middle.

"Come on," She nodded and we exited the prison, heading strait for the bus. Maggie got on first, and set me down. Maggie's eyes scanned the bus, and everyone on board. I did the same. I sighed in relief when I saw Derek. I ran over and hugged him.

"Kat," He smiled as he hugged me back. I noticed a thin coat of sweat on him, ew.

"Why are you so sw--?"

"Beth!" Maggie shouted, tears streaming down her face, "Charlie! They should be on here!" She called out. Derek stood up.

"I thought they were with you," Derek said. That's when I knew something wasn't right.

They were missing. And I'd probably never see them again.

"But. . ." I started, my lip trembling, "Charlie promised. She promised she'd be here," Tears flowed freely down my face.

"I'll go get them. Glenn, stay here," Maggie told Glenn.

"I'll help," Derek offered.

"Derek, you're shot," A woman sitting across from us said. I instantly searched for blood, seeing some coming from his upper leg.

"Please, Derek, stay with me," I begged him, tugging on his arm, "I'm scared."

Derek sighed and sat down, grumbling. Maggie left, going to search for Beth and Charlie.

"Please be safe, please be safe," I whispered over and over again as I curled up on Derek's lap.

I didn't realize I fell asleep until I woke up. The bus was moving. I shot up from my sleeping position. Derek as asleep as well, leaning against the window. I stood up in my seat, holding onto the seats in front and behind me for support. Most people were sleeping, others just staring off into space.
