(Fucking finally.)"Mommmyyyyyyy!" Whined Mari, making Jeremy sigh and walk into his room. He noticed the boy had his blanket pulled to his nose, and he furrowed his brow.
"What's up, buttercup?" Jeremy asked, sitting on the bed. Mari coughed into his long sleeve.
"I don feel good..." The child whimpered, his cheeks turning pink. Jeremy reached over and felt his forehead.
Hot, thought Jeremy. Poor kid, mustn't be feeling well.
"I think you've got a fever, dear." Admitted the brunette. The aqua eyed boy infront of him made a frightened sound, shaking his head.
"Nonono..... I c-can't get sicky, I... I can't-" Mari objected, trying to sit up. Jeremy pushed him back down.
"Mari... You're not feeling well." Pointed out Mommy Jeremy. "I'll make you some soup, and when dad gets home from work, we can sit in the living room with him and snuggle, okay?"
Mari nodded, "yes m-mama."
Jeremy smiled. Sometimes Mari called him mom, mommy, or mama. He loved it. And Mike... He was daddy.
And unfortunately, daddy had started a new job as a helper for some company. Sure the money was decent for a family of three, but Jeremy knew Mike would rather have sex with a cactus than do his job.
Mike knew he hated it too. But quitting? No way. Jeremy was so proud when he said he got a job, he wouldn't disappoint him.
Shaking away the thoughts of his fiancé, Jeremy rose to his feet. "I'll make your soup now, you stay here."
With a sneeze, his baby boy nodded. Jeremy kissed his burning forehead and walked off to their yellow walled kitchen. He pulled a pot from the pantry, placing it on the stove with water, and adding the soup mix.
The front door swung open, a tired Mike trudging in. He crawled his way over to the couch, sitting down.
"Welcome home!~" Chirped his fiancé, peeking out. "How was work today?"
"Tiring..." Huffed the older. "How were you and Mari today?"
Jeremy furrowed his brow together. "It was fun... Until Mari went for a nap and woke up with a fever." Mike sighed.
"Daddddyyyy!" Wailed the child, Mike hearing the want in his voices. He sighed again and got up.
"Be right there, Mari." He glanced at Jeremy, who stirred around the soup in the pot. Mike hurried into his babies room. "Yes dear?"
"I'm s-sicky... Could you sit with me...?" He gave the saddest eyes. God dammit. Mike sighed with a smile, and walked in, sitting on the bed.
"Course I can. Cmere, I'll hug the sick out of you." Daddies arms opened, and Mari hesitated, before sliding his small form into his new fathers arms. When the strong muscles wrapped around Mari, he suddenly felt... Safe.
The blanket was warm, yes, but Mikes arms were a different comfort. Human touch.... It was odd for Mari. Bring in a marionette suit since 1987, it was terrible....
Not to mention, technically, he was a man. He'd be 36, but his body had died as an 7 year old, so his soul did too. He didn't mind. Being a kid was fun.
"Y-You're Warm, Dadda." Mari looked up. Mike smiled, petting the small boys hair.
"Glad to hear my body heat is good. It was hard at work today, so this hugging my baby is fine with me." Mike kissed his hair, Mari feeling warmth creep its way down his spine. "I love you Mari."
"I luv you too, daddy." Mari smiled.
"You need a different name. Mari doesn't suit you. Tell me, what was your name before the... Uh... Accident?" Mike asked, feeling the small boy tense in his arms. "We can call you Mari if you're more comfortable with that..."
Mari let out a weak cough, sniffling. "My name? Um."
Mike waited.
"M-Micah."
Mike looked down at the small boy. "Micah? That's.. A really nice name. Can I call you that?"
'Micah' looked up at his daddy, with a shy smile. "You're my d-daddy, course you can! Micah Alexander Brown is my name..."
"Micah Alexander Schmidt now, baby boy." Said daddy, kissing Micah's forehead and stroking his hair.
"What's mommys name...? And yours?" Asked Micah, pulling away from their short hug, coughing again. Mike frowned, laying his son back down,
"Mommy is Jeremiah Andrew Fitzgerald, sweetie. And I am Michael Elizabeth Schmidt."
"N-Now I in the family!!"
"Now you are." Mike smiled.
Floorboards creaked as a small figure walked in, a steaming bowl of soup in his hands. Jeremy placed the bowl down on the bedside table.
"Some soup for my precious little Mari." Jeremy chirped, smiling. The others did too.
"It's M-Micah, mommy...." Micah corrected, pulling the bowl into his lap.
Jeremy bit his little pink tongue. "Micah? Well, that's your preferred name, so course."
"T-Thank you." He started eating his soup, making a soft sound as the warm liquid dropped down his little throat. "I love you both."
"I love you too."
"I love you too."
And, for once... Micah Alexander didn't doubt those words one bit.
