Yugi's POV

Song: Pharaoh's Throne by LittleKuriboh (AN: I coulnd't help myself with this one.)

I have been feeling a little better since my talk with Grandpa. Being without the Pharaoh still hurts, but I think I will at least move on eventually. I had been walking around the park for a while before my shift at the game shop. I am returning for my shift and I see a different car in the driveway. I head inside to see who is here. "Grandpa," I say. "In here Yugi and come see who has come to see us," he says from the kitchen. I walk in and see none other than Ishizu and Marik Ishtar.

"Guys what are you doing here," I ask. "It's good to see you too Yugi," says Marik. "It is nice to see you here in Domino," says Ishizu. "Likewise," I say. "Well now that Yugi is here, we should get down to business and explain why we are here," says Ishizu. We all sit down at the table. "Yugi, what do you remember about your parents," asks Grandpa. "The only thing that I really remember is that they died when I was very young and I came to live with you," I say confused. Grandpa looks down with a guilty look on his face.

"Yugi that's not exactly what happened," he says. "What," I yell. "Yugi, when you were born, you were born into a very wealthy family in Egypt. They wanted a better life for you and gave you to me," he says. "Why didn't you tell me that my parents were alive," I ask with tears in my eyes. "They asked me not to. The one thing that was true was that your mother died before she could even know you. She died during your birth," he says sadly. "Wow I can't believe this," I say in disbelief.

My father was alive after all. "So where's my father," I ask. "He died a few days ago Yugi," says Ishizu. I put a hand over my mouth and fight a sob. Though I never knew my father, he was still my dad. Grandpa puts a hand on my shoulder in comfort. "So is that what you came here to tell me," I ask. "Well that is part of the reason why we are here," says Marik. "What else could there be," I ask. Ishizu and Marik share a look. They both nod at each other and take a breathe. Whatever it is, it has to be huge for them to react like that.

"Yugi, to answer your questions we have to tell you more about your origins," says Grandpa. I nod. "Well we did say that you came from a wealthy Egyptian family, but what we didn't say was that your father was really the Pharaoh of Egypt," says Grandpa. "What," I yell. My father was a Pharaoh. How could no one tell me this? "Yugi, we know your in shock and we would give you time to process this if we had it, but we don't," says Ishizu. "What is wrong," I ask trying to keep my composure.

"Well when the Pharaoh died, he didn't have an heir in Egypt. What he did do was write a will and he did name an heir to his throne. We are here to honor the Pharaohs wishes. Yugi, you were named the heir in his will. He wanted you to have the throne," says Marik. My jaw dropped down to table and I was in pure shock. He named me his heir. I am next in line to be the Pharaoh of Egypt. I was saying the same thing in my head for the next several minutes as I still process this. I feel a hand on my shoulder.

I look at Ishizu. "Yugi, he wanted you to have the throne because you were the only one in the world that he could trust with it. Even though he knows that you weren't in Egypt. He believes in your ability to rule with your heart and soul, but it is your choice whether or not to accept it or not," says Ishizu. I look at each of them and then down at my hands. My dad picked me to be the next Pharaoh. I would make decisions that would affect an entire country and not just myself. How do I know that I am up to the task?

A memory flashes behind my eyes. Me and Yami are standing in my bedroom chatting before Battle City. "Yugi, in another time could have been Pharaoh," he says with confidence and smiles down at me. That's right. He did say that. Atem believes in me and I know that I can't let him down. I look up at them. "I will accept my position as heir to the throne," I say. Ishizu and Mairk smile. "I knew you would," says Marik. "Well Yugi. You have to move to Egypt soon to start preparations. Though I will give you a few days to say goodbye to your friends. You will also have to pick a council soon," she says.

"Well I am looking at two members right now," I say with a smile. "What you mean us," asks Marik. "Of course. After all that happened in Egypt with Atem, I couldn't trust anyone else more," I say. They both nod. "We accept," they say. "Now you just need 4 more members," says Grandpa. "Well I have an idea of who else to ask, but I will have to ask them tomorrow," I say. "We will get word to Egypt. Until then, we suggest you start preparing for your training," says Ishizu. She hands me a book that teaches the Egyptian language.

"I should start learning this," I say. "Oh I think you will find that because of your past with Atem, you will pick up on that very quick," she says. I smile at her. I grip the cartouche that hangs around my neck with Atems name on it. It was his final gift to me. "Oh and one other thing," she says and moves down he top to reveal her neck. I see the Millennium Necklace. "But I thought that those were destroyed," I say. "The ones that were there were decoys. They were only about half as powerful as the true Millennium items that were passed down the line," she says.

"They are essential for the Pharaoh and the council to pass a true judgement on those who do wrong in Egypt," she says. "You will get your Puzzle in Egypt," says Malik who has the Millennium Rod. "Ok, I think I am going to head to bed for the night," I say. "Of course and you two are welcome to stay here in the game shop with us," says Grandpa. "Thank you Mr. Muto," they say. I stand up and head to my room. I look around at it and know that my life will never be the same.

I will take most of my stuff with me, but there are things that I will be unable to take with me. I hope that Atem is looking down at me proud. I am going to become a Pharaoh just like him and I will do everything I can to be like him and honor him. I just wish I could talk to him and he could give me at least a little advice. I mean he is a Pharaoh and who better to ask. Unfortunatly he is unreachable in the afterlife. I hope he is resting well where he is. After all he sure does deserve it. I fall asleep still in shock and a lot on my mind, but I know I will get through all of this.
