Song: Long Live by Taylor Swift
Yugi's POV
Today was the day. I looked around the room that I grew up in knowing that I wouldn't be back here ever again. It's a bit bitter sweet. I'm moving on into something greater, but it also means I lose my childhood home. At least Mokuba will be here. He'll even be living in this part of the shop. I give it one last look before heading downstairs. All of my stuff is already on the plane at the airport. Apparently I get a private jet. I told them I would ride a normal plane, but they insisted and I have learned not to fight an Ishtar.
"Are you ready to go Yugi," asks Grandpa. "Yeah this is going to be a long week without you," I say. "Well you'll have Joey and Serenity with you until the rest of us get out there. You'll be fine Yugi," he says. I was surprised that they could leave with me this morning. Joey called me last night right after I had fallen asleep to tell me that he and Serenity would be on the plane with me. "I know. I'm just nervous. I hope they like me," I say. "I'm sure they will," says Marik. "The people of Egypt have been waiting for a kind and gentle soul like you to take the throne," says Ishizu.
"What was my father like as Pharaoh," I ask. "He was a great Pharaoh in the sense that he protected the people of Egypt. If Egypt was threatened, he showed no mercy. The only thing I didn't like was that he enforced slavery and he wasn't too kind to his slaves," says Ishizu. "Odion said that it was after your mother died and he sent you away that he became cruel towards his slaves," says Marik. "I won't stand for slavery. If they want to hire servants, then that's fine," I say crossing my arms.
"That may be a good thing for you to work on when you are crowned. Now it's time to head to the airport," says Ishizu. I give my Grandpa a big hug. "See you in a week," I say. "I love you," I say. "I love you too," he says. I give him one last squeeze before grabbing my carry on and heading out the door and to the car that was waiting. The ride was actually pretty short to the airport. The car pulled right onto the tarmac and in front of this very nice looking private jet. I look up and see all of my friends there.
"Hey guys! What are you doing here," I ask them. "Well we all wanted to see you, Joey, and Serenity off," says Tea. "That and we won't see you for a week," says Bakura. "Relax guys. It's only a week and good ol Joey here will keep an eye out for the little Pharaoh," says Joey with a grin on his face. "Sorry Yugi, but you're screwed," says Tristan. I just shake my head at them. "Well Yugi. I will see you in a week and good luck with your preparations until I am there," says Bakura who gives me a hug.
"Thanks Bakura. Keep the rest of them in line for me will ya," I say with a laugh. "Of course I will," he says with a chuckle. Tristan gives me a bone crushing hug. "Air..is needed," I gasp and he lets go. "Sorry and I'll see you in a little while bud," he says. I turn to Anzu next and she tears up as she gives me a hug. "I'm going to miss you Yugi," she says. "I know. I'll miss you too. Maybe after you finish school, you could be one of my royal dancers," I say. "Actually Anzu that is an option for you if you enjoy dance," says Marik. "Well it's definitely something to think about," she says.
"Good luck Anzu. I wish you the best," I say. "And I you Yugi. You'll make a great Pharaoh and I know you will make Atem proud," she says before giving me one last hug. After that we head to the jet. We take our seats and shortly after we take off and I watch as Domino City disappears. "Yugi," says Ishizu. I look at her and she stand up and pulls a case from a storage compartment. "We want to give this to you now to show the people of Egypt that you have accepted the position as their Pharaoh," she says and pulls out the Millennium Puzzle.
"Wow, thank you," I say and put it on. The familiar weight rest on my chest and I feel the magic come off of it. "The magic is stronger than the one that you had before so some training with it will be required," says Marik. "But I am sure you'll pick up on it quickly. You did hold the other Millennium Puzzle before this one," says Ishizu. "That's so cool. I do have a question for ya. This has been on my mind quite a bit since yesterday. I remember Atem's council held the other Millennium items. Will we have the other ones," he asks.
"Yes you will. After Yugi is crowned, he will then choose which item goes to which member of his council," says Marik. "Woah this is all so very surreal you know," says Joey. Serenity nods. "I also never got to thank you Yugi for letting me join my brother," she says. "It's nothing Serenity. How could I not let you go with him," I say. "Well thank you. It means a lot to me," she says. I nod at her and Ishizu smiles. "I think that this will be the beginning of a prosperous time for Egypt," she says.
"I hope so," I say. "I know so," says Joey. "Oh I was meaning to ask, where are we landing this," I ask. "Oh we'll be landing in Cairo. From there we will ride horseback to Thebe," she says. "Oh good thing we packed light," says Joey. "Well there will be carts that camels will pull through the sands," Marik. "So why don't we have cars," asks Joey. "We believe in getting around like they did in Ancient Egypt. It is also a form of protection against invaders. Though you will be surprised at how much has been modernized," says Ishizu. I decide to lean back and take a nap for a little while before the plan lands.
