Chapter 9

Yugi's POV

Today is the day that I am being crowned as Pharaoh. I am supper nervous about this. Am I truly fit for the crown. Well it's a bit too late to turn around now. Mana walks in the door seeing me in my coronation outfit. "Wow you look amazing and so much like him," she says. "Thank you Mana. I know. What do you think he thinks," I ask. "I know he is proud of you," she says. I smile and she guides me out of my chambers and up to a balcony that overlooks the kingdom. "Are you ready for this," asks Mana. "As I'll ever be," I say. "You look great Yug," says Joey. "Alright everyone places," says Ishizu.

They all take places behind me and Ishizu walks out into the balcony to speak to the people. "People of Egypt the time has come to welcome our new Pharaoh. We have achieved great peace and prosperity under the ruling of his father and I know his son will do the same for us. The Gods have chosen him to fill the shoes of the Pharaoh. May they bless and smile down on us. Now I present to you Yugi Muto our new Pharaoh," she says. I step out onto the balcony with my court behind me and the people cheer and shout when they see me.

"Pharaoh! Pharaoh! Pharaoh," they all shout. I stand there for about a minute and then Joey comes to me with my crown and I kneel in front of him and he places it on my head. I asked that it be the crown Atem wore in honor of him. The crowd cheered some more and I held up one hand to silence them. Once they were quiet, I spoke. "People of Egypt I will do all I can to rule over you with grace and dignity. I will always keep your best interests in mind. I will rule in honor of my father and the past great Pharaohs," I say and hold up a fist and they all shout and cheer.

After that I am lead back inside and to the throne room where the party is set up. My council, high priests, nobles, and other people of high class are here. "When are the rest of the people allowed to come in," I ask. "They are actually having their own party out in front of the palace and on the steps. The gates are open so they can come up to the doors," she says. "Why don't they come in," I ask. "Because it's just the separation of classes," says Ishizu. "Why don't I go out and be out there with them for a bit," I say and get up off my throne and walk through the doors. My council follows me for my protection.

I smile at the dancing people and they greet me with respect. I dance with some of the people who are shocked that they are dancing with the Pharaoh and they show me some of their dances. They thank me for accepting the roll and showing that I actually care about them. I go back inside when my council says I should. I bid my goodbyes to the people and go back in and converse with the nobles and have some food and wine. We all laugh about funny stories. "Well Pharaoh, you'll certainly have your work cut out for you tomorrow," says a noble.

"Yeah I'm a bit nervous about my first days as Pharaoh, but hopefully all goes well," I say. "Well we have confidence in you young one," says a lady. "Thanks it means a lot," I say. Mana skips up to me wanting to dance and I take her hand nodding to the nobles and heading out to the dance floor. "Enjoying the party Pharaoh," she asks. "Of course this is all nice, but I do know this is the calm before the storm," I say. "You'll step right into it. I promise," she says. I give her a questioning look. "If your anything like Atem this will come easy for you," she says.

"He grew up with his teachings though. Mine happened in days. I still am not the best with a sword," I say. "Hey it will come with time. We aren't on the brink of war so your sword training isn't very important right now," she says. "I know but I want to be at my best at all times," I say. "Yes and you are. Don't worry you are doing great. Now don't worry and dance," she says twirling. I laugh and dance around with her. She giggles as we dance and I can't contain my laughter. She's a very gifted dancer.

The party drew to a close and I bid all the guest goodnight as they went off to their homes or quarter within the palace. I conversed with my friends for a bit before going to bed myself. Once I got in my chambers, I sighed in relief that I can finally rest. I take the crown off and place it on my vanity before taking the rest of the jewelry off. I peel the clothes off and crawl into bed in the nude cause it's so hot. I snuggle into the blankets and pillows. Atem I hope your proud of me. I'm going to try my best. I just hope I don't fail.
