Family Business

Chapter 32

Dana watched from the car as the police dragged William away.

"I wonder what happened." She told Cristy. She had a huge crush on William since the moment she first saw him in the rain, the day she came to Lanchester.

Maybe it was just the pregnancy hormones but she knew she also was in love with Aaron.

"Stay in the car. I'll find out if any of  your family came back to the hotel." Cristy said, her eyes fixed on  William and the police.

Cristy got out of the car but instead of going to the hotel, she went straight to the police.

"I have the right to know why I'm being arrested!" William was shouting.

"We told you." The officer said. "You are being taken in for Adam's disappearance."

"Officer! What's going on!" Cristy interrupted coming forward.

"Please stay back ma'am. Just let us do our job." said the police as he opened the back of the police car.

"Cristy!" William called desperately as they forced him into the car.

"Cristy, Dana's brothers are in my room. Go to them. If I mean anything to you, keep them safe." He said

Cristy looked at William's desperate face in surprise. In the many years she had known him, William had never entrusted her with anything, especially living things. But before she could reply, they drove away.

Cristy wipped around to look at Dana who was anxiously watching her from the car.

"Damn! What do I do now?" Cristy muttered to herself. "Mother would be so upset if I deviated from the plan."

Helen paced the room, her eyes moving from cell to cell watching Derrick, Alice and Sophie on the ground writhing in pain, pleasure warming her body.

She loved her role in the family business but for the first time she was worried her husband would choose business over the family if he ever found out what Cristy was doing that moment.

All Cristy wanted is a baby and when she found out she can't, she almost fell apart. Cristy had gone into a psychotic break which almost got her arrested. Nobody in the business has ever been arrested before and it was not acceptable because of their strategy to keep a good reputation in public.

Helen watched as her victims fell unconscious one by one as the drugs in their system forced their body to shut down after immense pain.

Staring at their limp bodies, Helen thought about that day she saw Cristy for the first time.

It was a big promotional event, she and John had to visit an orphanage. While the whole trip had been incredibly boring something that happened towards the end led to Cristy becoming part of her life.

Cristy was one of the orphans in that orphanage. She was abandoned by a junkie mother and like most of the other kids, she had a tough life.

Helen had felt no pity for such people, but then she caught the 11 year old Cristy with a rat in her pocket. It was dead but had several pins inserted into its body. She knew instantly she was gifted.

The next day she and John went back to the orphanage and begun the adoption process. Cristy was soon to become a Maxwell and she would take part in their business at a very young age.
