3 years later
"Daddy, Papa! Wake up!!" A little girl yells as the weight of a 6 year old pounces on top of the sleeping couple.
Faking a groan, Aster grabs his daughter and pulls her down to lay in between him and his husband. "Five more minutes."
"Come on, Daddy!" She laughs, pushing his arm to wake him up. Giving up, she then turns to her other dad. "Papa, wake Daddy up!"
Peeking one eye, Jack gives his daughter a grin. "I'll only wake up until you give me my morning kiss." He says, before feigning sleep as well.
Giggling at her Papa's silliness, she leans in and pecks his cheek. "Now will you help me wake up Daddy?"
"Ha!" He laughs, before sitting up. "Come on, looks like your Daddy needs a good tickling." He teases before reaching out and tickling his sleeping husband with his daughter.
"Ahh!" Aster yells dramatically, faking a struggle against his adorable daughter's tactics. "I'm awake! I'm awake!"
"Good!" She says, grinning.
Jack, still laughing, gets out of bed after patting his husband on the shoulder. "Come on, you're daughter's just excited for her first day of school."
"I am! I can't wait, I even put the outfit we picked last night on my bed!" She exclaims, jumping on her knees excitedly.
"How about you go get dressed and your Daddy and I will go and get started on breakfast, okay Sophie?" Jack asks, giving her a smile at her excited look.
"Okie dokie!" And with that blonde munchkin jumps off the bed and towards her room down the hallway.
Letting out a sigh, Aster reaches out and pulls Jack back down into bed and nuzzles against his neck, his arms wrapping around his waist. "She gets her excitement from you."
Chuckling, Jack lifts a hand and buries it his husband's hair. "Yeah, but you love us both."
Truth be told Sophie was perfect for the couple. Aster, despite his rough exterior, loved children dearly. He grew up with a lot of younger cousins along with nieces and nephews, so when he moved to another country he wasn't able to see them as much as he would like. So after the couple decided to seek a donor, Aster couldn't have been more pleased.
As for Jack, the child he is at heart, he couldn't wait to care for someone he could call his own. Sure, he had Emma, but she was growing up so fast so they wouldn't be able to see one another as much as they would like. It was truly a blessing in disguise when the young lady chose them to take care of her child.
"Come on, old man." Jack finally says, lifting Aster's arm up in order to escape his grasp. "Time to make your daughter breakfast."
Humming quietly, Aster stretches in bed, causing a satisfying pop in his back. The two of them get dressed with playful banter. The two of them got the day off so they wouldn't need to dress up, jeans and t-shirt all they needed to wear.
They make their way downstairs and begin to make breakfast, blueberry waffles with a helping of strawberries on the side. Sophie's favorite. Just as they were done making breakfast, Sophie comes downstairs with her favorite green flower blouse, blue jeans, and a pair of yellow sneakers.
"Papa! Can you help me with my hair?" She asks, holding up a ponytail for him to take. "I can't do it the way you do."
"Of course, sweetheart." He says, putting down the plate of waffles and picks her up. "I'll get started while you eat your breakfast." Jack says as he sets her down in her chair for her to start eating.
Sophie loved it when Jack would braid her hair since she couldn't do it herself. Her Daddy had tried it once, but it ended with her hair getting tangled and her Papa teasing him as he fixed it. It was just better this way.
Soon enough, Jack finished braiding her hair and the three of them ate their waffles with excited chatter about her first day of school. Even though her class would only last three hours, it was a big deal for every kid who would start their first day of school. All too soon, the trio finished and decided to leave now.
Once they get to school they park the car and Jack and Aster walk Sophie over to the main entrance. Dozens of parents with their children were standing around, either saying bye or reminding them of when they would be picked up.
"Okay, Sophie." Jack says, crouching down to give his little girl a big smile. "You know the drill. You'll stay here for three hours and when you're all done your Daddy and I will come and pick you up."
"I know!" Sophie chirps excitedly, practically bouncing on her feet.
"Make sure you listen to your teacher." Aster chimes in, brushing a stray strand of hair out of her face. "And if you need anything, anything at all, just have them call us and we'll come right away."
Nodding her head, she gives her worried parents and big smile. "Okie!" She then gives them both a kiss and a hug. "I'll see you later!"
Kissing her forehead once more, Jack gives her a smile. "Love you!"
"Love you too!" Sophie says before turning around and walking towards the entrance.
The couple watch as she walks over to a group of girls her age, giving them a big smile as she says something. The others give her a smile and nod, one of them holding onto her hand before they make their way inside, their excited chatter loud enough for them to hear.
It's not until Aster hears a sniffle that he turns to his husband to see some tears running down his face. Understanding the worry and nervousness he's going through, the man wraps a consoling arm around his husbands shoulders and kisses his head.
"You know she's going to be fine, right? It's only three hours, plus she's already made friends." Aster whispers.
Nodding his head, Jack lets out a laugh, wiping away his tears. "I know, I'm just gonna miss her." He then playfully smacks his husband's chest. "She left me with you for the rest of the day. I bet you'll want to watch that documentary on plant life when we get home."
Faking a wounded look, Aster lets out a gasp as he holds onto his chest. "I'm hurt! And here I thought you loved me."
Jack just shakes his head before resting his forehead against his husbands. "You're so silly. I love you so much, Aster. Even if you're into boring shows."
Giving him a smile of his own, Aster whispers to his husband. Putting all his love and affection into that one look, Aster can't help but share the words he's repeated everyday since they got married.
"And I love you too, so much that I'll never stop loving you."
