A test of courage happens to be traditional in Summer. It is mostly a game where a glass consisting of straws are placed in a shrine deep into the woods or jungle, or even the highest floor of a scary building.
Flag Corporation had once again went on a trip, and Ichi told his employees to bring their family members if they want. Ichi himself brought his five brothers, and after a day of swimming and eating all the food that the employees (and Kara) had cooked, Hana had managed to convince everyone to play a test of courage just for fun. They can do fireworks tomorrow, she said.
For it to be fair though, they couldn't pick their partner. Rather, Hana was the one deciding who should be paired with who, so Ichi was instantly worried on who would be paired with his little brother. When Ichi pointed out that Hana could pair herself with Homura, Hana replied with a hearty laugh that Fuyu was Homura's partner, because she wanted Fuyu to monitor how "brave" Homura was. Hana was paired with Yuki, and Ichi instantly knew they were gonna win. Yuki was brave, and so was Hana.
As for him, he got stuck with Todo, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't feel rather envious of Oso's luck, who had gotten paired with Jyushi. Choro and Kara were together too, with Choro happily linking his arm with Kara's and pointing to the sky, claiming that they'll win. Oso took it as a challenge, and despite the worried cries of Ichi, Todo, and Kara, Oso had Jyushi ride his back and run off to where the shrine would be, with Ginger and Mimatsu following. Choro and Kara followed soon after, with Choro dragging a hesitant Kara with such excitement.
Then again, Choro hasn't experienced these kinds of things yet.
The game had begun after Hana had finished pairing about two hundred people (or more) together, and now Ichi was lost in the forest. With Todo, of all people.
But thankfully, Todo's senses were much more animal-like. Ichi could swear that the pink-haired punk's ears were twitching every now and then, as if he were a dog. "I can smell something from over there." As irritating as Todo was to Ichi, Ichi had to admit that Todo had to be one of the most impressive people he had ever met, besides the rest of his brothers, the Kyuujitsu Couple, Homura, and Hana.
They relied on Todo's instincts and found themselves in the forest clearing, with a shrine in the center of the field, as well as fifteen glasses that consisted of fifty straws each. Or at least, that's what it seemed like to Ichi; some of the glasses had been knocked off, and Ichi could swear he could smell something being cooked.
Wait.
Being cooked?
"Oh! Ichi, Todo! Care to have dinner with us?"
When the duo turned behind them, they found Kara holding up a large leaf which seemed to have grilled meat in it.
"..Kara, did you kill an animal just to have dinner here in the clearing?" Ichi asked, obviously concerned if the meat was edible.
"Huh? Oh no, it was Oso who killed the animal. Oso, Jyushi, and Choro are hunting another one."
Needless to say, the rest of Flag Corporation didn't come back with a straw, and decided to eat some of Kara's food for the time being.
