Instead of the usual halo, Ichi had gotten a request from Jyushi that he wanted a yellow flower crown for his angel costume. And hours later, he gave him what he asked for. Halloween was a holiday that the brothers didn't get to experience after their mother's death, since Ichi had to start working, and Jyushi wasn't able to walk door to door as he usually did. Plus, when Shiroku was alive, he didn't let the children leave the forest and go to the city to go ask for candy (something they usually did with Nana), so the most fun they had at fall was most likely the yearly pumpkin parties that Hijirisawa always sets up for the brothers, because their dad was too much of a stick-in-the-mud.
This was their first year of Halloween with the other four, as well as Maruka and Kareshi. While the other two were still getting their costumes ready, their four brothers had already finished dressing up. Kara was a priest, so it was pretty simple. He just had to use some things from his closet, as well as borrow Todo's cross-shaped earrings and necklace that he kept from his high school phase. Todo was a devil, with black horns and pink and black wings, and even a pink pitch fork. Choro somewhat resembled the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, with a top hat and all, and he even borrowed bunny ears from Jyushi. Oso was supposedly an owl, and those wings on his back and feathers on his hair seemed to prove it. The thing is, with the goggles and medical mask, he looked like a serial killer.
And Ichi was a pirate. Usually, he'd just accompany the others while they do their thing, but it was Jyushi who convinced him to just loosen up for the night. The only thing he had to buy was the black eye patch, purple and black hat, and a hook for his right hand, since he had a lot of clothes to pick from, and that included the times that the Suuji brothers were invited to costume parties. He was left-handed, so his hook had to stay at the right hand, so he could whip out his sword just in case something were to attack them. His katana fit with his costume after all, so if they dared to underestimate him, he could always stab them-
"Niichi, you look so cool!" Jyushi gushed, holding Ichi's hands with his own. "A pirate!"
They had folded the sleeves of his white polo, which was normally long enough to obscure his hands. But for this holiday, Jyushi didn't mind exposing his hands. Ichi looked at the ring on his little brother's index finger, and noticed that it was still gleaming as it usually was. As childish as Jyushi was at times, Ichi was glad he took care of the ring. Jyushi's nails, which were normally painted yellow, were white with tints of yellow on the tips of his nails. Fuyu had visited earlier and painted Jyushi's nails, since the youngest brother was still learning how to paint his own.
"..Thank you." Ichi smiled, reaching out for Jyushi's hair and patting it. It was only moments like these where Ichi could loosen up and forget about the company for a few hours. "You'd make a good angel too."
"Really?" Jyushi giggled. "Their wings are fluffy!"
"Heh. They are."
"We should wear matching costumes next year, Niichi! All eight of us!"
Matching costumes, huh? Sounds good-
"Oi, Maruka!" Todo pounded against Maruka's room, which used to be the old guest room. "Can you hurry it up a bit?!"
"Shut up, Aniki!" Maruka hissed from the other side. "Ai-chan just called!"
"I don't give a shit! Hurry up!"
Jyushi chuckled, leaning against Ichi's shoulder. "Haaaah! Having so many people in the house is so fun, right?"
Not really. But Ichi just let out a snort and ruffled Jyushi's hair. "Hm. It is."
