Previously: "Jesse we need to head west, that was where the scream came from, one of my friends is in trouble!" lukas blurted out, he shouldn't have said all that but looking to jesse all he did was nod. "Hold on tight" jesse croaked out, and he squeezed his legs into nights side and they took off.
_______________________________________Jesse told night to go west, he was loosing his strength. The scream may have been a normal scream to lukas, but jesse and night had enhanced hearing. The scream came through and could have killed him if it was loud enough. Except, jesse had no idea why he was loosing his strength, night was fine.
Lukas was scanning the area below them, they had been travelling west for a while now. All that could be seen was great green trees and shimmering lakes. Just as lukas was about to tell jesse they should head back, a shimmer gleamed through the trees. Lukas bent over to get a better look, and a arrow wissed past his head. The dragon must have felt it because he started to fly faster. Jesse held on tighter as another arrow flew past his head. Jesse tried to tell night to go back, but his voice failed him and another arrow narrowly missed nights head. Night had been spooked and he began to panic, thrashing about and flying faster. Jesse nearly lost his grip as night dove down and came back up to try and escape the relentles arrows. Lukas took another look durning a pause in the barrage, he saw 2 people standing in a clearing. One was wearing red, the other green. He knew those people it was axle and olivia! Lukas tugged on Jesse's shirt and told him to land over ing the clearing below them. Just as they were about to go down an arrow shot night in the wing, causing him to spiral and strain to try and land. Jesse held on tight, but it wasn't tight enough the wind whipped around him and tore his hands away from night. Night barrel rolled in the air and jesse slipped off the saddle, lukas tried to hold on but he to was thrown off. They weren't that far from the ground but Lukas hoped that there was water to break his fall.
All jesse heard was a splash, and suddenly he couldn't breath. He couldn't see anything either, the only thing he felt was the cold bitter water around him and the warm air leaving his lungs. He tried to siwm up, but it only made him more tired and weak, he opened his eyes. All he could see was darkness and a dimming light, but then something broke the surface above him. Lukas. He seemed to be trying to reach the surface, jesse smiled as lukas broke the surface. He felt something hard beneath him, the bottom of the lake. He could just barley make out lukas trying to swim down and get him. Just as Lukas went back up for air, jesse lost his last bit.
Lukas saw jesse hit the lake first, he was relieved that there was a relatively large lake beneath them. The Dragon had landed a bit away from the lake tending it's wound. Lukas hit the surface and sunk down a bit, he quickly swam up to the surface. Then he remembered jesse, he put his head into the water and opened his eyes. The water was murkey, but he could see a faint outline of Jesse's body sinking to the bottom. He wasnt moving! Lukas brought his head out of the water and took a big gulp of air. He began swiming down to the bottom, his ears popped and his air was running out, but he had to get jesse. Just as he thought he couldn't hold on his hand brushed against something. Jesse! He grabed hold and pushed himself off the bottom with jesse in tow. The surface was almost in reach, but lukas couldn't hold on any longer. His last air bubbles broke the surface as the two boys sank.
Olivia watched as lukas dove down to rescue the jesse boy. After a while she noticed that he hadn't surfaced "Axle!" she called out. Axle ran over to the waters edge and scanned the surface for any sign of them.
Axle finally saw a few bubbles pop on the surface near the center of the lake. He emidiatly dove in and looked around franticly for the drowning boys. He spotted them slowly sinking to the bottom, lukas was barely holding on to jesse. Axle swam over and grabbed hold of Lukas hand, he felt him squeeze a very weak sqeeze. Axle swam to the surface and made sure both lukas and Jesse's heads were out of the water. He swam to shore where Olivia was pacing and dragged the unconsious boys out of the lake. Lukas emidiatly began coughing up water and rolled over, getting much needed air. Jesse didn't move though, only layed there in the warm sand as water trickled out from the corners of his mouth.
Lukas crawled over to jesse and shook him. No one knew what to do. His Dragon had managed to pull out the arrow and started to cautiously make its way over. The moment the Dragon caught sight of jesse he bounded over growling at us to step away. The Dragon whimpered at jesse and pushed him a little, trying to wake him up. Then the Dragon noticed the water and began pushing on Jesse's chest. Slowly jesse started to come around but he kept on going back into unconsciousness. This irritated the Dragon and eventually he roared at jesse. Out of the blue jesse woke up and coughed up the water that was in his lungs onto the already dampend shore.
When jesse finished he layed back down and stared up at the sky. Night stepped back as the others came to see him. Lukas shook jesse to get his attention, but jesse could only glance over in his direction. He tried to talk but all that came out was small squeaks. Then lukas appeared in front of him, he was blured but not to blured. "Jesse we need to move you" Lukas said, but jesse only had enough stength to give a tiny nod. Jesse swore he heard night growl and people running... What was happening?
