“So… what’s the plan?” Kayden mumbled through a mouth full of food as we sat in the back of an empty, run down, Chinese takeout restaurant somewhere in the heart Oklahoma.

Shrugging, I closed my eyes and sank into the cushioned red velvet seat of the booth, totally lost in thought. Slowly, I began to mentally list out what happened in the last twenty four hours.

2:00PM: We came up with a plan to mislead Keith by constantly relocating to throw him off track

5:00 PM: Kayden suggested on going to the movies to relax and have a little fun

10:30 PM: Keith somehow found us and chased us out of the theater

11:02PM: We were hot in pursuit for a good thirty minutes before Kayden made a sudden turn into some random neighborhood and lost them

3:06AM: Kayden and I continued on driving til we reached Oklahoma and crossed the border

4:00AM: Kayden’s stupid stomach growled

4:15AM: Kayden takes my iPhone and Google’s ‘pictures of FOOD’ to tame his hunger

5:00AM: I try to convince Kayden to find a motel and order room service for breakfast so we can plot out our next plan

5:20AM: Kayden ignores my suggestion and obnoxiously states his intense craving for Chinese food

5:45AM: We find some random Chinese takeout place that’s open 24/7 literally in the middle of nowhere

6:00AM: Kayden is stuffing his face with Chow Mein while I sit on the other side of the booth awkwardly watching

“YOU SURE YOU DON’T WANT A-A-ANYYYY?” Kayden asked, a piece of his noodles messily falling out the side of his stuffed mouth. Boys are such pigs…

I repeatedly nodded my head in annoyance. How could this boy eat so much food at just 6 in the morning?!

“YOU SURE?!?!”

I nodded my head once again and sighed with frustration, “Just hurry up okay? Keith keeps following us and I don’t know how he manages to do so!” PIG…

Kayden nodded his head, his perfectly perfect tousled brown hair bouncing up and down, as he tried to force another fork load of orange chicken into his mouth.

Disgusted, I swiftly glanced around the empty store observing our surroundings. The shop was ancient, the stained floral wall paper slowly peeling as the dead potted plants sat on the windowsill with no hope of ever being watered again. Even the store owner, an ornery old Chinese man with a long white beard and crooked cane, was historic. So here we are, two teens, sitting in some random shop that sat on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere!!!

 “MMHMMMM MMKAY, I’LL FINISH...”

Rolling my eyes, I continued to play with the hem of my favorite maroon v – neck as I waited for the beast to stop his feeding.

“HOLY CRAP,” Kayden suddenly exclaimed causing me along with the one other customer in the store, a balding old man seated in the front, to jump up in surprise.
