It concerns me why she's so scared of werewolves. The look in her eyes made my heart drop; they were filled with so much terror. The way she was holding onto me, nearly tore my shirt off. Not that I would really mind but, the way she avoids certain questions about herself makes me worry.
Is who she is that dangerous to a point she can't tell me, her mate? I know we just met but she's my mate. I've waited so long, generation, after generation. Now that I have her by my side, I feel fulfilled. Like, I already know her. It's weird because the vampire in me is acting just as protective and loving as my wolf. She's nothing like I imagined her to be. She's better, so much better.
The second we reach the living room, everyone stares as she scans the room. I watch her look at the twins, taking in there appearance. I can feel Carson staring at me in a heated gaze. I glare at him, swinging Victoria's hand in mine. He glances down at our hands, then down at my crotch with a dirty smirk. I was about to growl as a warning because he's pissing me off. But, am interrupted by Victoria practically fan girling.
"Oh, my gosh! You are the cutest thing I've ever seen!"
I snort and give a side glance to Drake who's amused as well. Never call Carson cute, it hurts his gay ego hard. I'm surprised when she lets go of my hand and charges towards him. Tackling him into a hug. Jealousy surged through me but quickly faded the second I saw Carson's face.
"What the-?"
Victoria giggles, flipping her beautiful hair over to the side. A sudden feel of loneliness hits me and all I want to do is hold against me, running my fingers through the blonde and blue ringlets. My whines, pawing at me to let him to his mate. It's only been a few seconds she hasn't been near me and I'm already missing her, she's in the same room! She points to the Panic! At The Disco shirt.
"Is this a band?" I try to hold in a laugh, Carson lives for music. If you don't know his all time favorite band he'll force you to live them.
"You don't know Panic! At The Disco!"
"Oh, right. Brendon Urie sings in that band. I haven't seen him in a while."
"You know Brandon Urie, isn't he dead?"
I catch Drake's glance at me. He's right, Brandon Urie has been dead for decades. Either she really has met him somehow or my beautiful mate is a talk show. Her smile says otherwise.
"I know everything, Carson."
The weird feeling from the other day when Victoria walked in hits me in the chest again. Damn, she is just full of surprises. For some reason I yearn to find out everything she's hiding but, I have to build trust. I already love her, that's the easy part. Carson stares at her as if she knows his deepest darkest secret.
"You didn't tell her my name, did you?" I lock eyes with Victoria for a second.
"I only told her my own."
"How do you know my name?" She smiles, a sight I've already memorized that clenches my heart.
"Let us just say this isn't our first time meeting."
I can't take it anymore; I need her right by my side at all times. It's as if she'd disappear right before my eyes and I'd lose her right after she found me. Her eyes follow me as I walk towards her. I pull her up to her feet by the hand and carry her over to the set of brown couch chairs. She instantly makes herself comfortable in my lap, laying her head on mine. I snuggle into the crook of her neck, wrapping my arms around her waist tightly. Soft, catlike purrs vibrate within her, causing my wolf to howl in happiness. It feels good having her in my arms, a deep calmness I can't explain.
"So, are you going to introduce her to us now that we've established she knows who we are? Or are you going to keep rubbing in the fact that you've got your mate now?" I smirk, my fingers slowly running through her hair again.
"I think rubbing it in. There's a certain vampire in here I want to receive the message loud and clear." I watch Carson watch in disgust.
"Hot, straight people," he mumbles with sighs and moves, sitting next to July. Victoria's mellifluous laugh melts the previous tension in the atmosphere.
"Honey, it's not because we're straight. We are mates, which means we automatically have a loving bond between each other. It's our job to decide if we want that bond to be strengthened. Then again, if a gay guy thinks we're hot enough for him to pout over it. I think that-what?"
Everyone stares at her in awe, watching as the platinum roots darken to a navy blue, fading evenly into the blonde of the rest of her hair.
"Your hair." July breathes out, which is saying quite a bit because he doesn't talk much at all throughout the years I've known him. Her face scrunches, tossing her hair in her face to see what was wrong. A nervous laugh shakes through her.
"Oh... Um, my hair changes colors based on my mood. My normal colors are platinum blonde and blue, it's all natural, though. Blue symbolizes a variety of emotions such as, calm, peace, depression, loyalty, knowledge, power, trust and integrity. It all depends on the shade of the color."
She explains sheepishly, rubbing her upper arm and snuggling closer to me, her hair hiding her face.
"It's beautiful."
I whisper to her causing her lips to spread into a small smile. My heart swells at the sight.
"That's great and all but, wouldn't that kind of suck? Having people able to read you like an open book," Carson asks obnoxiously.
Victoria shifts uncomfortable in my lap, her breath shaky. I kiss her cheek and rub her leg to try to comfort her.
"Carson, that's enough," Drake demands, slightly using his alpha tone, leaving absolutely no room for argument.
"Hey, tonight's movie night. How about we have the new member of the family pick out what we watch," Harrison suggests, smiling a kind smile at my mate.
"Oh, I'm not real big on movies." Her fingers fumble with the collar of my shirt.
"Well, James can help you pick one out. Or we can do something else of your choice." She looks at me, as if asking for permission of its okay. I smile at her and shrug.
"I don't care as long as it involves ice cream or my apple juice."
My hard eyes dart to Carson who just winks at me, a smug look on his face. I'd so bash his face in if Victoria wasn't here right now keeping me calm.
"Okay, well I guess we can go out for ice cream then play some board games, get to know each other a little."
Harrison, Riley, July and Drake all agree. Carson staring at my mate blankly, I growl at him as a warning. He rolls his eyes and slumps back into the couch pouting.
"Fine, I like ice cream, I guess."
"Can we get your name now? I think that's the first step in beginning a relationship."
"Victoria."
