Part II

A Love Story: 7

Everyone gets out and heads to bed. Well, for those who aren't entirely dead. I lay in my bed with a book while I wait for Victoria to finish up in the bathroom.

"We really need to get me some clothes sooner or later."

I hum in agreement as I try to finish up the last few pages of a chapter. My senses are high alert. Victoria's scent seems to be stronger than ever. Just slightly. It's incredibly distracting. In addition to the fact she used my shower, wearing my clothes and sharing a bed with me. I attempt to reign in my focus on Lord Of The Flies, but my wolf has a whole bunch of other things he'd rather focus on other than a group of young, naïve boys trapped on an island.

Defeated, I set my book down with a sigh and watch my mate. She wanders around my room. With nothing to do and no belongings. I can imagine how bored she may be here. As she wonders, her hair slowly starts to fade into a golden blonde. Roaming near my dresser, her sight falls onto a framed picture of mine.

"Who is this?" I stand and make my way to her. Standing behind her and looking over her shoulder at the picture.

"My sister, Valerie."

Victoria studies my sisters smiling, care free face.

"She's beautiful."

I sigh and wrap my left arm around Victoria's waist. Sliding my right down her arm and lightly brush my finger tips across the glass above Valerie's face.

"She was."

Victoria moves her head up and turns slightly to face me, gently setting the picture back down.

"I'm sorry."

I stare at the picture dazed.

"Yeah... Me too."

Curiosity seems to interest her attention, the burning sensation to ask the question that may be forbidden to be asked.

"Was she human?"

"For a while, yes. Our mother was. Her father was out on pack business. She was one of the members of an exclusive group that new about our world."

I question Victoria silently if she wanted to continue on with the long, sad story. All I is see is highly peaked interest in her eyes as she gives me her full attention. I breathe in and begin the story that brought me into this world.

"Naturally he caught her scent that carried a potential bond between them. Back then, it was forbidden for humans and supernatural beings to be romantically involved. Typically, when there were a mated pair of human and wolf; they'd kill the human before any bond was able to be formed. So, with that fear in mind, they started meeting each other in secret. They were smart and never told anyone or met at the same place or at the same times twice."

I look up into Victoria's eyes, looking back into mine still with intent focus and interest in my words. I drop my head with a sigh and grab a hold of her hand. Feeling her soft skin and playing with her fingers as a form of distraction from truly concentrating on my own demons.

"For a few years they developed a routine. Then, one thing lead to another and my mother feel pregnant. Val's father was terrified of the news. He wasn't happy about it at all. He was more worried the Parliament would find out and either strip him of his Alpha title and keep him prisoner as a fighting dog or torture my mother and their child for getting involved."

I let go of Victoria's hand and move towards the edge of my bed and sit down, elbows on my knees.

"I'm guessing he made a hasty choice over another," she estimates as she follows my lead and sits down next to me on my bed. I laugh lightly with a small smile and a shake of my head.

"He lashed out at her and chased her away. My mother was heartbroken but had no choice but to move far away from the Parliament in any hope to save her unborn child. She ran for months then found her way to a place just on the edge of England throughout her entire pregnancy. Just in time she found a warehouse where they helped her give birth. The group of men would only allow her food, shelter, water and protection from the Parliament as long as she agreed to give herself up.

"She stayed there for years. Gave her and Valerie food, shelter, clothing, water and the protection they needed from the Parliament. The only down side was that my mother was enslaved by them and had to help accompany anyone of the men's pleasure without a fight. If she fought it or said no to anything, they'd use Valerie and the Parliament as leverage.

"The good thing is, Valerie's father's wolf traits never passed onto her. Yet, still she did carry his scent and power of an alpha female. One day, once Valerie got old enough, she started to understand what was happening. She never interfered until one night. She couldn't bare listening to it anymore. She stood up for our mother. The man wasn't happy for the interruption and pushed her out of the way. That alone enraged my mother and she fought back."

Victoria smiles a small smile with a huff, "Your sister sounds very loyal and tough, going against supernatural beings like that." I nod.

"She was. My mother was too, in a way. The man was drunk and got angry. Before anything serious happened, though, another one of the men walked into the scene. He was a werewolf and stopped the fight. The alpha of the group. That's when he found out about me. He caught another scent from my mother and listened in on my heartbeat. He was furious and ripped my mother of her clothing. Sniffing her belly, he smelt the werewolf gene. But, that's not the only reason why he was angry.

"There were vampires in the group as well. They'd beat up my mother and rape her for fun whenever they were bored until she was almost to the brink of death then give her their blood to heal her so they could do it all over again."

A low growl rumble through the air. I look up at Victoria, shaking with rage and a far away look in her beautiful, electric purple to blue eyes. Almost as if she were focusing on linking with somebody or in some kind of trance. Reliving some kind of dark memories like the ones I am trying to avoid while telling it out loud. I turn and lightly set my hands onto her shoulders.

"Vee?"

She gasps and jerks back. Her eyes shoot up to mine full of... fear? I slowly crawl to her and cup her face gently.

"It's not the greatest story. I can stop and save the rest for later."

She looks down and closes her eyes. I can hear her fast berating heart slowing down as she shakes her head.

"No, no. It's fine. Go ahead, I want to hear it."

I study her for a moment, not so sure if she is truly okay or not.

"Are you sure?"

She smiles a somewhat convincing smile and nods her head again.

"Yes, I'm okay."

Looking at her for a little longer, I nod and look down at her hands and start playing with her fingers again.
