**************

To say things were a little tense for the next couple of days in the house would be an understatement. I hardly saw Daniel and when we did end up in the same room there would be this intense current, this need to be with him. And it seemed the farther away from him I was, the stronger the need would become. I’m almost positive he’s my mate but it’s not like I have anyone to talk to about this. Today is finally Friday and I feel so tired of school, I don’t know how I’m going to get through the whole year.

“Hello, earth to Jade!” John says waving his hand in my face.

“Huh?” I say feeling dazed. I look around the lunch table and both Sam and John look amused, while Jane looks worried.

“You spaced out for a good minute, that’s all.” Sam says smirking.

“Sorry, what did I miss?” I ask picking up my sandwich and taking a small bite.

“We were just saying that tonight were going to have a bonfire party.” John says shrugging.

“Wait, seriously? Who’s going to be there?” I ask feeling excited. I love parties, especially the kinds that have good music and plenty of alcohol.  Yeah, I know I shouldn’t be drinking but who the hell cares?

“A bunch of people from other…schools.” He says giving me a look which I quickly understand; other packs in our region are coming. “Don’t worry it’ll be a lot of fun, our parties are always crazy.”

“Good, I’m counting on it.” I say grinning. “Jane, do you want to come?”

“Thanks but I can’t. I have to babysit my little sister.” She says quietly.

“Alright, next time I guess.” I say smiling at her as the bell rings.  After a quick goodbye to Sam and Jane, John and I walk toward history together.

“So are you going to clue me in on what’s going on between you and Daniel?” John asks.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s nothing going on between us.” I say lying smoothly.

“Oh please Jade, don’t even try it. You guys keep staring at each other like lost lovers or something and everybody in the house has noticed.” John says and I feel myself blush slightly. “But from what I can see, it looks like you’re the one pushing Daniel away.”

“You’re imagining things John.” I say as we sit in our seats.

The class starts and I don’t even pretend to be paying attention. The fact that everyone is noticing about me and Daniel has honestly left me a little shaken. I mean, we hardly know each other and yet I feel like I want to be with him, all the time. And the wolf side of me is practically screaming at me every time I ignore him. It’s not that I don’t want to give him a chance but what if things don’t work out and then things will be super weird and I’ll have to move to another pack. And considering my track record with guys, things NEVER last very long.

When class ends we go straight home. James keeps looking at me and I know he wants to ask more questions but I just ignore him. The house is pretty crazy; you can feel the excitement that usually comes when you’re having a party. I go to my room and lay down on my bed.
