Shawn ~
"When was the last time you heard something as depressing as that? How did he know exactly what to say?" Camila awkwardly sat next to me with no clue how to make me feel better. Tears continued to trail down my cheeks. Despair was the only word I could think of.

"You shouldn't think of all of that. Think about the fact that your family has your back in your rough times. Of course they miss you, but that doesn't mean they aren't happy for you. They're prouder than they'll ever be of you. They'll always be proud of you." She rubbed her hand on back with care. I wish I could see what was going on in her mind. Just some sort of reassurance that she was in the same situation as me would make the pain go away.

"You never appreciate the colors of the rainbow until it's night time." I said while tugging at my shirt, the cloth of my sleeve wiping away my tears making my face dry again.

"I wish I had spent more time with my family, Camila. I wish I could tell you how much regret is filled in me right now, but I can't even find the words to say it."

"Stop thinking like that, Shawn. There's too much negativity in your mind. Let all of that go. By restraining your thoughts to only be let loose in such a narrow path, no optimism will come. Come on, smile a little." She lightly bumped our shoulders together, causing me let out a simple chuckle.

"Laugh a little, it makes everybody happy." Her hands ruffled the curls in my hair as laughter purely left her lips. God she made me happy.

"Thank you, Camila." She smiled as a response to my gratitude as she lied her head onto my lap. Eyes like marbles stared back into mine.

"Off the topic of me now, anything up with you?" I asked, watching the water slap each pebble in its way.

"I'm really happy that people like my new album. I've never been more excited to--"

"I meant to ask you Camila not 'pop star solo artist' Camila. How have you been?" Her fingers painted the light in the sky.

"I've been good. Nothing super spectacular or significant has occurred, next."

"No, I want to talk about you. How's your family? Your sister? How old is she?" I realize I had been pestering her with questions, but curiosity is getting the best of me.

"They're good, so is my sister. She's 10. Next."

"Come on, actually tell me how they're doing. 'They're good' doesn't mean anything. How's your mom. How's your dad. Your dad seems like the type of guy that loves his family."

"Can we please just talk about something else? I don't want to talk about this. Let's talk about your writing niches. Why do you always drink tea?"

"I'm not changing the subject. Now I really want to know how your dad is doing now that I brought him up. How is he? Does he like to fish?"

"Stop, Shawn. You don't want to know."

"Of course I want to know, that's the only reason I'm bringing him up. Now, does he like to watch football? What does he like?" Standing up with tears already rolling down her face, her fists clenched in with anger and frustration. I hadn't even noticed she was crying. Am I that oblivious?

"Shawn! You aren't the only person to ever struggle with leaving their family for a career! Do you even think about how I'm not even at home to see my little sister grow up?! Or maybe how I rarely even see my own parents anymore?? Why couldn't you just let it go!?" She abruptly stormed pass the trees and began walking back to the cabin.

"Wait! Camila, I'm sorry!" I caught up to her and held onto her as she forcefully rotated her body towards my direction.

"I didn't mean to make you upset, I-I didn't know." I choked on my words.

She rolled her eyes and swerved me off as she rushed back into building.
