Camila ~
"Hey, you're super cool to write with. We better write again." Rachel smiled as her strangely buff arms wrapped around me (strange mostly because the rest of her body was extremely petite). "I totally agree, but call me when you start your modeling career." We both chuckled at my comment.Gripping on the handle of my suitcase, I began to roll it out of the cabin before stopping in my steps. I had almost forgotten to say good bye to Shawn of all people. Scanning the room, he's nowhere to be seen.
"Do you know where Shawn is?" I asked Geoff as he raised his eyebrows. "You want to see Shawn? I thought you were mad at him or something." He bit into his week old bagel. He said that he didn't like to waste food... I guess he wasn't lying.
"He's still my best friend." I confusingly rolled my eyes at him. No matter what Shawn does, I can't give him the silent treatment forever. His urgency to know about my father did truly disturb me, but Shawn is still a part of my life that I do not want to let go.
He even told me his sincerity of careless towards me last night. However, I'm still recovering from his comments. I sound extremely ridiculous with my triggered thoughts, but something so traumatizing as an abusive parent isn't something one can easily handle. I wish I had never met my father at all. Well, maybe it's better that I know just how terrible of a person he is than spending many of my days just trying to find him just to be disappointed by his personality.
"Uh, I think he's just laying on one of the mattresses." He pointed his finger towards the door that led to the room where everyone slept.
Walking into the room, I expected Shawn to look at with happiness filled in his eyes, but I was completely wrong. I didn't even see his eyes. He lied on his right side and faced the wall.
"Shawn?" I called his name out for the first time in a while. No reaction. He's returning the silent treatment to me. The one time I want to talk to him, he's quiet.
I took a seat on the mattress in which he lied upon without trying to look at the expression on his face, because I know it would kill me.
"I'm about to leave, Shawn." My words were now soft when I was near him. I lied my hand on his arm in attempt to comfort some part of him into talking to me.
Still, no reaction.
"I wanted to say goodbye. I hope you say goodbye, too."
Silence thickened the air.
"I'm sorry, Shawn. I just want to hear your voice right now. Without the apologetic fear in it, though."
My hand dragged down his arm before I stood up, ready to leave.
"Good bye, Shawn." I pitifully said, leaving the cramped room. Closing the door behind me, I was greeted by the curious face of Joshua. "Are you ready?" He frantically said.
I took a glance back at the closed door with the smallest hope in me that Shawn would open the door and at least tell me good bye.
Nothing.
"Yeah." I responded as he abruptly pulled me by my wrist out to the car and assisted me into the same dark SUV that brought me here.
Everyone stood outside of the cabin to wave good bye to me. Everyone except for Shawn. I waved back, but only in politeness. The only person I wanted to say goodbye to did not even bother to look at me today. I guess this will be how it is with us.
