It's been a few weeks since Shawns wipeout, he's still pretty down, but he's trying to make the best of what he's got. You and Shawn called Andrew the next day and he was furious with Shawn for not thinking straight, but he tried to keep his cool knowing shawn must've been pretty devastated himself, after all there wasn't anything you could do about it, it is what it is.
Although Shawn was upset that Andrew was pissed and he had a broken arm, he was most upset about letting down his fans. He wanted to be back on the road, doing what he loves, for the people he loves. But unfortunately guitar wasn't an option.
There were many days where you would walk into Shawns office seeing him frustrated trying to figure how to play guitar with the situation he's in. Sometimes he would be sitting at the piano trying to play with one hand but soon realizing it wasn't enough. So he stuck to singing, he worked with a vocal coach multiple times a week and did a lot of song writing. As soon as his cast is off he'll jump right back into guitar and get back on the road. However, we are just hoping that he can still play the same way.
--------------- few weeks later
It was finally the day for shawn to get his cast off, after weeks of suffering it was finally time for him to be free. You all were very excited, shawn, you, and most of his crew/management. However, you could tell Shawn was nervous, after all this day could determine where his career goes. You both drive the to doctor, you played some music, trying to help ease the tension and to bring down your excitement, not knowing what's about to come. Shawn brought along his Taylor 410, he was so eager to get back into guitar.
You get there and he is cleared by the x-rays to get his cast removed. He was glowing with happiness. Until the doctor told him, that he has to wear a brace and refrain from drastic wrist movement for the next week.
You walk back to the car, Shawn looks in the back at his guitar in anger and slams his hand on the dashboard. "ITS NOT FAIR" he screams (Canadian fury) "I'VE DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT, I'VE WORN MY SLING, I HAVEN'T USED MY ARM, I HAD YOU HELP ME DO EVERYTHING FOR THE LAST 6 WEEKS FOR GOD SAKES AND I STILL NEED TO WAIT LONGER?!? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!" Shawn rages. His body tense from emotion. You just sit there, he has to let it out, all the emotion he's kept in for weeks on end. Once he's cooled off you simply say "You've gone this long, just wait one more week and it'll be done, you want to make sure you're fully healed before guitar is forever not an option. understand?". He silently nods, embarrassed from his outburst. "Shawn, it's okay, we all have to let it out sometimes, just be patient for a little longer". You drive home.
----------- 1 week later
(A/N: yes, I know, sorry, so much waiting)
You received a phone call from Shawns doctor saying that if Shawn doesn't feel anymore pain, he is free to do whatever he likes, but recommends wearing the brace if anything ever feels off and before and after shows for the next few weeks. When Shawn gets this news he is ecstatic, yet, nervous. He grabs a guitar and breathes in, you both hold your breath, praying he can still play in the magical way he does. He plays a few small chords, everything seems to go right, he gets into it and starts to play a full song, it sounds as beautiful as ever. You both sigh in relief and smile. "Finally, the pain and waiting is done, I have my life back" he says with a grin plastered on his face as he continues to jam out on the guitar after weeks of waiting.
