"Oh my god can you just shut up?" Sangchil screamed into the phone. "Listen, Jin, I will pay you back, but I need you to pick up the cake!""Ah, seriously. I have better things to do—"
"Pig face! Pick up the goddamn cake! I understand you hate Kim Taehyung's guts, but just for once, think positive things of him. Okay? It's his birthday and I need you to be nice and not a bitch."
Charlotte from the kitchen laughed out loud. "You tell him Sangchil!" She yelled.
"It that Charlotte in the back? Tell her to shut her face." Jin said.
"No. Just pick up the cake." Sangchil ended the call and rubbed her hands over her face. "Charlotte, I wonder how you even like him."
Charlotte shrugged. "I just do. He's sweet." She went back to the stove where she was cooking seaweed soup.
"Thanks for helping me." Sangchil said.
"Anytime. I will always help out." Charlotte smiled. "But you're gonna clean up."
"Yes, yes..."
"Hey, how many people are coming anyways?"
"Uh..." Sangchil mentally added up. "4... 8... 9? Nine people I think. Namjoon is picking up Taehyung's friends from the airport today. He's supposed to be here soon, I need his friends to help set up too."
Just as she said it, the doorbell rang. Five boys stood and smiled. "Hello!" One waved.
Sangchil recognized him, but she couldn't put a name to his face. She also saw him that day on the bus with Hanbin...
"Come in, I'm going to need your help. All of you." Sangchil said.
After a busy buzz in the air with everyone bouncing around, setting up for Tae's big day, Sangchil managed to remember his friend's names.
Jimin came up to her. "Hey, Sangchil, where do you want me to place these banners?"
"Huh?" She frantically looked around. "Maybe above the couch. I don't know—JUNGKOOK! Stop running with the helium tank! It's gonna break!" She yelled.
She let out a weary sigh and wiped her forehead, not knowing she smeared chocolate frosting on herself. Sangchil was in the middle of frosting the cake. Jin did pick up the cake she ordered from the bakery, but when he arrived with it and handed it over to Namjoon, the cake slipped and dropped.
She remembered the accident, holding on to the counter for support as she felt like fainting.
"Oh my God! What to do now?? We got no cake!" She panicked. "Holy shit, I'll just make one." Sangchil sighed and ran into the kitchen.
The rest of everyone stood in silence, deciding what to do.
"It's Jin hyung's fault. He's the one who gave it to Namjoon." Jungkook said.
"Yah! I thought I handed it to you!" Jin pointed to J-Hope.
"Me? I'm sorry but my name isn't that clumsy person named Namjoon." J-Hope shook his head.
"Can we just all shut our faces and get something to clean the cream off the floor?" Suga groaned.
Namjoon held his face in embarrassment. Jimin went to get towels to clean it up. Jin cleared his throat.
"Okay, everyone. Just try to follow what I say. Stay out of the kitchen—especially you, Namjoon—and clean up this mess. Set up balloons and decorations."
J-Hope and Jungkook were in charge of blowing up balloons. Jimin walked around and pasted up decorations, and Namjoon swept the floors. Suga just hung around the kitchen, silently cutting vegetables for stews and other dishes.
Jin helped Sangchil finish a new cake while Charlotte kept cooking the other food.
Sangchil put the sliced strawberries on the top, completing the cake.
"There." She bent her back backwards to stretch it. "Jin! Should I put the cake in the fridge?"
"Yeah, make sure to put it on the bottom shelf." He replied.
"Sangchil! Sangchil!" Jimin called again.
"Yes?"
"Should I—You got... Frosting on yourself." He pointed to her face. "Anyways, Namjoon hyung told me, to tell you, that Taehyung is coming over in five minutes."
"Okay. But why couldn't he tell me by himself?"
"He's not allowed in the kitchen. Remember?"
Sangchil bursted out in fits of laughter. "Okay, I get it. Tell the others to get the final prep ready. Remember, Jimin, this is a surprise. I don't want J-Hope saying 'surprise' as soon as Tae sets his foot in the doorway. Calm him down."
Jimin nodded. "Got it!"
Sangchil carried the pan full of stew to the table when someone knocked on the door. She instantly looked at Jimin. "You told me he was coming in five minutes!" She hissed.
"I thought that too!" He replied.
"Everyone hide! Jin! Get the door!" Sangchil whispered, loud enough just so everyone heard it besides Taehyung.
Jin opened the door. "Hey, Taehyung."
"Hello." Taehyung bowed his head. "What's with—"
"SURPRISE!!!!!!" J-Hope screamed.
Sangchil groaned and banged her head against the wall.
