Y/N's POV

"Well shi--- crap," Gene interrupts himself. We're in a hotel lobby, all sitting in the waiting room area. Most of the people that were in the houses when they exploded are wrapped in blankets and Sasha has a coffee from the hotel breakfast dinning room. She sips it, not saying a word. Everyone is fine, just kind of shocked and traumatized. Travis is awake now, but he can't move a muscle without feeling pain. Katelyn is next to him, holding onto his hand.
"What now?" Dante asks and Zenix shakes his head,
"I don't know..."
"I say we blow up the dang puppy hospital!" Gene stands up abruptly, "Garroth, do you still have exploding feathers?!"
"Gene, that's terrible!" Aphmau yells at him, "It wasn't the puppy's fault!"
"I agree. Violence isn't going to solve anything," Laurence admits. But Gene just laughs hysterically,
"ARE YOU KIDDING?! VIOLENCE SOLVES EVERYTHING!" Sasha touches the tips of Gene's fingers and he suddenly looks like he's about to cry, "I hate having things ripped from me."
"I think everyone does," Zane crosses his arms. I remember seeing him by the tree holding Kawaii~Chan's hand. Now Kawaii~Chan is gone with Lucinda, who are trying to figure out what happened. Zane keeps looking at his hand as if some essence of Kawaii~Chan is stained there. Soon enough, the double doors fly open and Kawaii~Chan bursts through, breathing heavily. Zane immediately gets off of the couch, running toward her. Lucinda is right behind Kawaii~Chan, her hair in a bind.
"We figured out what happened," she says.
"We know what happened," Gene snaps, "We want to know what's going to happen now that it's done."
"Irene, no need to be so snappy," Lucinda snorts. But Gene looks hurt and he just keeps staring at Sasha as if she's a corpse. His expression is soft and soaked in pain. It makes me hurt inside even though I don't know why out of everyone here, he is the one that looks the worst. His face is still covered in the ashes and he hasn't even attempted to wipe them away from his squinted eyes. "The mayor of the town says he sincerely apologizes for the misunderstanding and will pay for us to stay in this hotel until we find an apartment complex or a new neighborhood to settle in."
"Kawaii~Chan also heard him say he'll pay for the medical," Kawaii~Chan adds. Sasha stands up, a blanket still wrapped around her shoulders like a shawl, the cup of coffee is still in both of her hands.
"Thank you for getting that information," she thanks them. Everyone is staying silent. This is the most awkward we've ever been, all just not talking. Zenix's hands are on my shoulders but I take them and now his arms are wrapped around my body.
"I guess we should start looking for places to live tomorrow," Garroth mentions and we all just nod.
"Our hotel rooms are numbers forty, forty-one, forty-two, and forty-three," Lucinda says. Everyone stands up except for Travis, who doesn't move and just stays sitting.
"C'mon now," Katelyn groans and wraps her arms around Travis before hauling him onto one of her shoulders. "I'm taking him up the elevator. Meet you guys on the third floor." Katelyn slowly walks toward the elevator. Travis's legs touch the ground and he tries to walk.
"K-Katelyn, y-you didn't have to d-do this..."
"Pfft, you weigh nothing," she laughs. We all watch them go before walking down a small corridor to the door leading to the stairway. Laurence pushes the door open and holds it open as everyone files in. The gloom faces on all of my friends make me frown and I can't take it anymore.
"RACE YOU UP THERE!!!" I scream and start sprinting up the stairs.
"HEY, NO FAIR!!!" Garroth yells and he runs after me. Laurence and Dante follow, their laughs echoing up to the floors above.
"NO ONE SHOULD GET A HEADSTART!" Sasha chuckles and begins after us, "AND I HAVE COFFEE, SO IT'S HARDER FOR ME!" And soon enough, everyone is following me up the short three flights of stairs. Once we all get there, we're all out of breath and our hearts are beating out of our chests. But laughter fills our breathing. Laughter fills the silence.
