Lies and Secrets

Y/N's POV

"Here, let me help you," Zenix comes up from behind me and holds onto my waist, lifting me higher so I may string the curtain above the window. A few hours ago, we picked this place to be our new house and now we're already starting to decorate with a few items Zianna lent to us. Our house is right in between Dante and Travis' house; and Lucinda's house.
"Thank you," I attach the F/C curtain to the pole above the window. Once it's hanging, I look down at Zenix, silently telling him to put me down. He instead situates me so I'm sitting like some sort of princess in his arms, which makes me laugh. "I was motioning for you to put me down!" I try to sound annoyed, but I can't with the smile on my face.
"But if I did, you might run away," Zenix flirts, his eyes looking unconditionally mesmerized as if holding me in his arms has hypnotized him. He only occasionally gets like this; he tries to tug on my heart as a reminder that he loves me. Not that I need reminders. I reach up and touch my palm to his cheek,
"Maybe you should have held onto your sternness instead."
"I'm just showing my affection, Y/N," he lets out a chuckle. "C'mon, let me flatter you once or twice." Amused, I move my hand from his cheek to the back of his head so I may bring his lips closer. He prepares to kiss me, closing his eyes and softly grazing my lips.
"Can you not do that when I'm in the room?" a voice comes out of nowhere, causing Zenix to quickly pull back and set me to the floor on my feet. Zane is in the doorway, his arms folded at his chest as he taps his left foot impatiently.
"You shouldn't be talking," I smirk at Zane, remembering his kiss and embrace Kawaii~Chan only a few hours before. Clearly irritated, he only responds with a groan.
"What are you talking about?" Zenix asks, clearly curious and confused. Zane immediately gives me a warning glare, waving his arms while mouthing "no". Unsure of what to say, I look back and forth from Zenix to Zane. hoping my husband will just let it go and assume it's personal. But he doesn't. His gaze only gets stiffer. Zane eventually gives in to the fact that I have no idea what to say and stammers,
"Zenix, I-I ummm... I kissed... uhh---"
"A cat!" I blurt, interrupting Zane before he can finish his sentence. Zane's glare strengthens on me; I probably just made this situation worse. But hey, in my defense, Kawaii~Chan is technically a cat... sort of. Plus, they wanted to keep their relationship a secret, so that's not my problem.
"What?!" Zenix looks absolutely astonished. "Why would you make love to a cat?"
"I... uhhh..."
"Wait," Zenix doesn't even pause to hear the answer to his own question. Not that Zane would have a good reason on the top of his head to make-out with a cat. "is this code for saying that you got into a relationship with a meif~wa or something?" Zenix figured out this whole thing way too fast. A lot of people underestimate how clever he is. Apparently I did too. Zane can't hide the truth now that it's out in plain sight. I sigh, deciding I should tell him so I don't lie anymore.
"I don't know why you're keeping this a secret in the first place," I scowl at Zane, genuinely annoyed at this point. Then, I look at Zenix, "Zane is dating---"
"SPRINKLES!" Zane yells, interrupting me. I cock my head slowly to look at him. Now, it's my turn to look at him. Now it's my turn to glare. Why is he so worried about keeping his and Kawaii~Chan's relationship private?
"Sprinkles?!" Zenix crosses his arms and glowers at Zane. "You mean to tell me that Sprinkles is a real cat and she was Garroth's and you love her?!" I can't tell if Zenix is angry or amazed. "And she's purple?!"
"Y-yes..." Zane replies, but his voice is shakey and Zenix doesn't look like he's buying it. "I can let you meet her! C'mon, Y/N!"
"Wha---" Zane grabs my hand and pulls me away before I can finish protesting.
