Red Apples [Completed]

Chapter 9: Red Apple

Now I've decided to stay a little bit longer so I can tidy around and do a few touch ups, I can't believe I've been taught how to survive out there by myself, if only my father were here to see me and how much I've come along, oh I miss my father... all the times he'd teach me to ride a horse and take me out to practice hunting in the woods, those are the moments I cherish forever. As I shut the door I bump into this old women

"Oh hello are you lost?" I ask

"Yes. You see I've come from a cottage and I lost my way" she says well I guess it wouldn't hurt to bring her with me

"Well you can come with me if you wish, you see I'm going to a castle and I'm sure they'll help you" I reply

"Oh thank you my dear! Please take a bite of this apple as my thank you" she shows me the most reddest apple I've seen

"Wow. How'd you find one so red?" I ask taking it

"I grow apples by my cottage. The reddest are the sweetest, you won't find others like this one and I smile, I take a bite and at first it's sweet but then I feel funny and I fall to the ground and the last thing I see is my evil stepmother laughing evilly and my eyes fall shut.

Few Hours Later      Third Person POV

And so Katniss laid on the ground in front of thee dawarfs home, she had been laying there for hours and it is the dawarfs that had first discovered her still as can be body laying with a once blood red apple and has now turned to black... they all knew that this was all the queens doing and so all together they carry Katniss back into the home and lay her on the table surrounded by flowers which made her look so much more beautiful, Cinna had checked for her pulse but to his disappointment there was nothing.

Months had passed and the dawarfs had built a neat little wooden shed which had Katniss laying on a nicely decorated table and the room was painted like the woods, everyday the dawarfs go in to check if just maybe they could walk in and she's sitting up on the table but it never happens and so they sit around the table silently eating their breakfast

"What are we to do with her body? We can't keep her there forever" Haymich asks

"I will take her to Prince Peeta's kingdom, she'll be looked after then" Cinna explains as they all agree. When they all fix up their house and decorate the outside of the shed they all hear galloping getting closer and closer and that's when Peeta and his horse comes to view, he smiles at the small dawarfs in front of him

"I remember all of you from a few months ago" he says and they all nod

"I was on my way to princess Katniss's castle, word got out that she has returned safely" he states excited and they all of a sudden feel sorry for the poor prince

"Prince, the queen lied. Katniss isn't back at that palace, she's been staying with us, she didn't want us to tell you that time because she was afraid" Cinna explains finally and Peeta gets off his horse

"Well. Show me to her" he demands and he follows the dawarfs into the shed and Peeta's heart shatters at the sight... his poor Katniss laying but not breathing, he walks up to her with tear filled eyes

"Katniss... oh god no. This is all my fault I should've... I should've tried harder" he says stroking her dark raven hair

"Please forgive me. I promise the queen won't get away with this" and he leans over pressing his lips to hers and as he pulls away she lays still but then she groans and her eyes flutter open and the dawarfs run over, Katniss looks around and her eyes land on Peeta and she smiles brightly and throws herself onto him and he holds her tight, the both just stand there hugging till they finally brake apart and and Katniss greets her friends and when she finishes she stands back up properly facing Peeta

"It was my step mother. She did that, I don't know how but she did" Katniss panics and Peeta rubs her arms

"It's okay. Your friends told me. I'm not letting her get away with any of this and after it's all sealed with, you and I will marry" he says and Katniss smiles as they kiss once again, they all walk out of the shed together but Katniss leans against Peeta for support as she isn't quite good at walking well yet and so she bids her friends a see you later and she rides off with Peeta on his horse.

Katniss POV

Peeta and his father storm into the castle and in the thrown room where my stepmother is and the guards grab her and she sees me alive and gives me a dirty look

"Queen Ersula! You are being arrested for the attempt of murdering the princess, for your crimes you are going to be sent overseas as a slave" Peeta's father commands

"This is outrageous! That little brat has been jealous of me since I married her joke of a father! She's lying" she spits

"She's not lying" I turn and see Elaine, her face a little bruised and cut but I run up to her and hug her carefully and she walks over to where we were all standing

"I've known Katniss since she was just a new baby and I've helped raise this girl and I've learnt things about her which is that she's extremely stubborn but she never lies about anything like that and you made me take her to the woods and tried to make me kill her and bring her heart to you but when you found out I lied you had me tortured. You're an evil person who doesn't deserve the thrown" Elaine defends and I smile at her and I watch as the guards drag my stepmother out who is going to be put straight to slavery.
