I was shortly brought back to the float with the skull to become more familiar with the others. There was Frank, who I already knew. Gerard, who I was getting to know. Mikey, who is Gerard's younger brother and plays bass. Ray, a man with a large afro and plays lead guitar. And Bob, the drummer with blonde hair and a lip piercing like Franks. I shook all their hands and tried to get to know them better.
They all were apart of a band called My Chemical Romance, and them as a band, created the black parade for people who died and had no faith in where to go. They are originally from the living world and had not intended on staying in the black parade, but more people came, and the more that came, the harder it was to leave. "Could you imagine?" Mikey said looking down shaking his head. "Packing your bags to leave people who had become your family." He sighed. "The only thing you can say as you look into their sad eyes is, "Trust me, the hardest part of this, is leaving you." and you have to believe that they trust you." He nodded looking up. "But, we're still here, and we won't go anywhere." He swung his long legs back and forth over the edge of the float.
"So, what have you done since you've all been here?" I asked curiously.
Mikey shrugged but Gerard spoke up. "Sing. Well, I sing, they play their instruments, we are a band after all." He giggled like a child.
"Yeah, a band of the afterlife. What songs do you play?" I asked wanting to keep conversation going.
They all just looked at eachother with a knowing smirk. I only knew what they were doing when they all hopped onto the float and started getting things ready. Frank and Ray with their guitars, Mikey with his bass, Bob on the drums, and Gerard with the microphone. They were going to sing something. Or at least, I hoped they would so I could hear Gerard's voice singing again.
The drums started out simple, and there was a small hum of guitars as Ray played softly, then Gerard started singing.
"Sing it out, boy you got to see what tomorrow brings.." He started out quietly and I smiled. His voice is beautiful already. "Sing it out, girl you've got to be what tomorrow needs." Then Mikeys bass line started and it all came together as he continued to sing. "For every time, that they want to count you out... Use your voice, every single time you open up your mouth." Then it all clashed together into a beautiful sound of the song all together, his voice stronger and more emotional, "Sing it for the boys, sing it for the girls, Every time that you lose it sing it for the world. Sing it for the deaf, sing it for the blind, sing about everyone you left behind!"
The song continued on and I felt goosebumps as I listened closer to the lyrics and the sound of Gerards voice with the drums and guitars and bass all at once. I felt happy, with my heart beating fast, and a smile playing on my face.
Once they finished the song, Gerard hopped down sitting on the edge of the float and looked up at me smiling.
"Enjoy?" He asked.
"Oh yeah. That was epic. I could feel goosebumps on my skin as you sang. You've got a really amazing voice." I nodded smiling.
"Good, because you're stuck with us so I would've been worried if you hated our music." He giggled making me giggle, it must've been contagious.
We all sat silently on the edge of the float until I saw Mikey smirk and lean over my lap and take my necklace from me as he got up and ran. "Mikey!" I yelled and laughed. "How old is he?"
"Twenty-nine," Gerard chuckled. "I know right, childish."
I jumped up, "Guess I've got to chase him." I smirked.
