Not Love

I woke up the next morning being yanked out of bed by a pair of cold and gloved hands. "Get, uuuuup." Whined Gerard. I moaned and covered my head with a pillow which only made him pull harder. "Let's get this day going!" He shouted and I rolled out of the bed and onto the floor. I looked up, and sure enough was gazing directly into his eyes that seemed to shine despite the dull contrast of the world around us. "Finally sleepyhead." He giggled.

"Nooo, I don't like getting uuuup!" I shouted rolling around but he just picked me up and held me up in a hug and patted my hair down.

He giggled. "It's okay, take your time beastie. I'm sorry for waking you up." He was smiling but I just stood there pouting in his arms. After I decided I was awake enough, I followed him out to the front, where the air got crisp and fresh. I took a deep breath in feeling the cool air rush through my body waking me up. Gerard smirked as he pulled me out more into the outside.

"Is anyone else up?" I asked.

He laughed "It's the crack of dawn, no one is awake except us." He smiled pulling over to a tall building that looked abandoned.

"Are there people here?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, not a single person goes near these buildings, too afraid they'll collapse at anytime." I saw a smirk follow his lips and I giggled as he opened the door walking through the scatter of broken chairs and papers, the lights were either broken and hanging down ready to snap and fall, or the glass was shattered and the light is flickering. He marched up the broken stairs and giggled at the fact I was practically crawling on my hands and knees, scared for life to stand up.

That's when he turned back and picked me up, giving me a piggy back ride, as he ran fast up the stairs, probably annoyed by me screaming in his ear as I could feel the buildings ever tremor. "Where are we going?!" I asked, panic in my voice.

He laughed. "The top!" He exclaimed pointing up the long winding stairs and I sighed with a slight chuckle.

It was a few minutes before we reached the top of the stairs, breaking the lock to get roof access. A big gust of wind hit me as we walked out onto the swaying tower and He showed me to a blanket set on the floor. I walked over and sat down, looking out at the world in front of us. "Hey Gee? How high up are we?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the view.

He walked over and sat down next to me. "Six hundred stories up." He smiled. "I doubt it'll collapse, it's been standing here forever. And I come up here a lot." He nodded.

"Well I can see why..." I said breathlessly, the view made me feel complete empty, as if I was apart of the wind itself, winding around the building that swayed so gently against everything around it. I felt his arm over my shoulder and he pulled me close, allowing me to rest my head on his shoulder. "Thank you for showing me this, Gee, it's amazing." I giggled and he chuckled.

"Oh it's no problem." He was smiling softly and he sighed. "By the way, just because I brought you up here, it doesn't mean I, you know, want to date. Honestly, I just wanted to show you this. I hope you weren't thinking of that." He bit his lip nervously but I laughed.

"Gee, I thought I was going to have to turn you down. I didn't think anything of this being a date. But, you can keep your arm around me a bit longer, It's chilly up here." I mumbled. Truthfully, I was hoping he thought of this as a date. Gerard was cute, and caring, and funny, and random. I liked him, but it was understandable that he didn't think of this as a date. He's been here for god knows how long, the only girl interaction, with Grace, and he might even have a family in the real world and he doesn't remember. I knew I couldn't date him, I knew he thought it wasn't love.
