Cloud

I paced nearby a large wooden clock. As an air elemental, I didn't realise those before you made puns and/or metaphors such as these. After all, time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?

Pausing, I turned to it once more, desperate for the 'hands' to point to midday. But, to my irritation, it was only five minutes past the moment I had last checked. Fifteen more.

Catching a scratch on the corner of the structure through the corner of my eyes I frowned. Whoever designed this was hallucinating if they believed this should be in a castle. The wood looked old, dusty and boring, the glass not too far away from the same concept. It reminded me of that clock in London I had the privilege to visit once. But this was ancient. It made me wish I was there when the architect carved it, just so I could keep yelling 'No!' over and over. The reason I'd call it different to all the other clocks was because it contained the Sire Scroll. Said to be written by a Royal of the age a 540 or something, it was a script of great importance. Or so I've been told. Yet, no one has tried reading/reaching it. So you couldn't blame me about not understanding how essential this piece of paper was. The glass kept anyone from getting through. It was locked and a key was the only way to get to it. A strange symbol of no model I had ever seen. There were three -- what I presumed -- flames at the top of it and an upside down semicircle beneath it. A couple of spikes at the bottom of the structure and a stick-like hole going across. It thickens as it gets further to the left.

A knock. Startling at the sound, I strode to the cloud door and pushed it forward. He told me a long time ago this kingdom was created by the water and air elementals. When they were in love, water had used ice and frozen the clouds so they were able to become walked on. I didn't know how it was possible myself, but it gave me a castle so I was fine with it. Casting my eyes toward the visitor, I gaped. "How did you get up here?"

She blushed. Looking mighty nervous, she moved her hands behind her back and rocked forward on the heels of her feet. "Your dragon."

"Nya, why are you here?" I'll admit, never in a million years did I expect to see her here. She wasn't ever this confident . . . If you could call it that. It was so obvious she had a crush on me, sure we dated before, but that was then, this is now. Liking another girl while I was dating her? It was a mistake that I wouldn't make again. I liked Nya, but I also liked Octavia (totally contradicting my statement I know). They were complete opposites. Nya had brown hair, a few blonde strips due to the sun and had blue eyes. At this moment, she had her hair up in a pony tail with two pimples on her cheek. She wore black skinny jeans and an ordinary shirt, her denims were my favoured part of her outfit. I winked at Nya, "Back for more?"

She grimaced, "That was a mistake, Cloud. What we had between us? It's gone, you assured that when you liked my friend whilst I was dating you."

"Yeah, I guess." I raised my eyebrow, she looked disappointed for a split second, then it was gone. Nya sighed, before tossing a piece of paper in my direction and walking away. I frowned, "You came all the way up here, for this?"

She either ignored me, or didn't hear as she continued toward the balcony. I followed close behind, motioning my dragon over as she nodded and hopped on. Nya gave me a final glance before the creature leapt onto the railing and dove down, his wings tucked in tight. I strolled over and leant against the wall, gazing at my dragon and its rider as he spread his wings above the trees and soared into the distance. I smiled, the view was amazing from here, and I was blessed with a dragon that could fly. Testing the scenery once more, I spotted a cottage a little while away. Surrounded by trees and a river ten minutes away, it had the perfect spot. Almost as perfect as my own. My castle was above earth, what more could I ask for?

I stayed like that for a while; against the railing, staring at the view. Eventually, my dragon came back and curled in a ball nearby. He looked exhausted and I briefly wondered why that was, the only thing he did today was fly Nya up here and down there. I grinned, remembering the note and strolled back inside at a leisurely pace. I grabbed the paper and sat on the chair, everything in here was a cloud that froze. Thus, at times it could be uncomfortable. Shuffling around in my seat, I furrowed my eyebrows at the writing. It was small and . . . Neat, definitely not Nya's then.

Meet at 9, we have to talk.

At the mention of time, I scrambled out of the room, tossing the letter aside and sprinting for the doors and jumping off the balcony. I was going to miss my meeting! I had been waiting for it all day and I was late because of a girl?! I was to be discussing a few new policies today. Many of the creatures of this world have been going beyond their boundaries recently and I have decided enough is enough and organised this meeting. It had been creating such a hassle and now I was going to miss it. I was becoming worried, what if they ordered I no longer be King of this palace? There were no people here, but there were still living creatures, take my dragon for example.

"I'm here, I'm sorry I was occupied with a--"

"Cloud," someone said, a male voice, "How nice of you to finally join us."

I glared, before noticing the other elementals here, Andre, Nya, and Octavia too. I hadn't seen her in a while. Why did Nya even bother with the letter when she was meeting me - Oh, she wanted to make me look bad. I stuck my middle finger up at her when she looked over and she rolled her eyes. I decided to question her, "Why did you do that?"

"Do what?"

Huffing in annoyance me as she pretended to play dumb. That was so overrated. Sitting on a chair I looked around the room, acting oblivious to their curious eyes. It was your typical meeting room, except everything was white and cold. The desk was long and could fit around ten people (it reminded me of glass), I didn't visit this place often. Even though I slept a few rooms away from it.

"Alright, so I'm not here to discuss laws." I glanced over at Andre in confusion, thats what I was here for. "Let's talk about our war."

I sighed, but nodded none-the-less and listened in every now and then whenever the conversation got interesting, especially when the fact that they used my dragon was mentioned. Other than that? B-O-R-I-N-G.

As we exited the room, Nya caught up to me and nudged my shoulder. "See you then."

Raising my eyebrows in confusion, I then remembered the note and shook my head. "I'm gonna be busy then, bye."

(A/N: Longest chapter yet, you might be expecting a few more of these! Any tips please leave in the comments :)
