It was early morning when Ernie Mason opened his eyes. Jesus that had been some dream, he thought. What a freaky nightmare. He remembered travelling in space somewhere. It was a powerful experience, vivid. He laughed to himself. He remembered thinking he must be dead. Other memories were blurred, so he had to dig deep. He became conscious of a pain in his shoulder. He was still drowsy, gazing at the striated shadows playing on the ceiling. The pain in his shoulder was urging him awake. Where was he? He tried to move but he was attached to something and he was covered in something.
