Chapter one

I woke up startled as my alarm clock was ringing loud and clear that it was time to get up for school. Ugh, I forgot all about it but then again, how could I not? Let me tell you the short story of my life. I'm Victoria Fox. I have two parents, a twin brother and two sisters. My parents are not together, not divorced and don't talk to each other. They just simply got together, had kids and broke up. My siblings and I are split up. My two sisters live with our dad and my brother and I stayed with our mom. My parents are strangers to me, I barely know anything about them; just what they look like, where they live, their cars and their names. My parents weren't the kind to spend a lot of time with us, expect us to be perfect and still manage to point out our flaws. My big sister is Ella, my brother is Tyler and my little sister is Evangeline . We haven't seen each other except on birthdays and certain holidays. Here's the weird part... my mom is a shifter. She mated with my father who is human. My father doesn't know and neither do my sisters. Tyler and I have always known there was something weird about her. One night, she left without a word and thought no one was watching her. We followed because of our curiosity and saw our mother shift. We weren't surprised... that much. They broke up because my father thought she was cheating and ended their relationship. I think they didn't get married because of Shifter rules or something like that. He thought it was a smack in the face when we decided to live with her. So, that's why we don't see our father or siblings a lot.

Back to the present, my mom has a new friend named James who helped her recover from the loss. We see him sometimes but he seems odd. Shifter or not, there's something strange about him. Anyways, Tyler thinks we're shifters too. He doesn't want to ask our mom yet because she doesn't know that we know about it. We run faster, have better senses and heal fast. Sounds like it's probably true. Our sisters seems human like our father. We're waiting for the day when we start the signs of shifting. My mom has been asking us a lot of questions and doing weird check-ups on us. I guess she thinks the same thing we do. Only, she knows more than us. She wanted a fresh start and moved us from New York to this place that has the woods everywhere but there's still civilization. My brother was ecstatic to learn that. If there wasn't a mall or something, my brother would drive me insane! We'll be living in a town called Woodland. It's 3 or more states away from our family.

I took a shower, styled my hair and went to get my android phone and looked at the time. Walked over to the other guest bedroom. "Ty! Get up! We've got school and take a shower!" I said while knocking on the door. Immediately it opens and someone starts tickling me to the ground. Of course, it's no one other than one of this town's new kids, Tyler Fox, my big twin brother with a big smile on his face. Tyler yelled "Morning Tori!" and ran to the bathroom to get ready. I got dressed for school and started making breakfast. I made Ty's favorite too. Hash browns, bacon, eggs with an immense stack of pancakes. I felt the house moving like an earthquake was starting as he came down the stairs and immediately attacked his plate. The  famished assailant was smiling like a kid on Christmas morning when he paused and said "Your the best sis!", he then continued on to the meal. When we both finished, we got our bags and hopped in to our Honda Odyssey. Which our father provided money for since we both just turned 16. We waited an extra year for it so that our father would give us extra money. Ty and I did the smart thing by buying me the car first since I already knew what I wanted. Ty's still looking and saves the money in an account just in case he changed his mind.

We drove into the school's parking lot, got out and headed towards the office. Students can't attend classes without their schedule, right? Ty got his first and when the office lady handed me my schedule, Ty immediately grabbed it. I started to say " Hey-" but Ty cut me off...

"We have Spanish, AP Calculus, U.S. Government and English together. Thank god , now you can make sure we both pass." he said with a sly grin on his face that showed the dimples that girls at school obsess about.

" Fine but you have to work, don't get distracted and pay more attention because if you slack off, I'm, not doing your work!" I said with a playful glare. I looked on my schedule to avoid his pouting and saw my other classes. AP American History, Spanish 3 Honors, AP Calculus AB, Gym,  AP English Lang, Art 2D and Culinary Arts. Cooking, Gym, Art, and English will be the easiest. I like a challenge though. I've always had straight A's with a 4.0 and Ty gets the same. That's with my help, which he loves. It was hard though with our sisters bothering us all the time. We miss them, but school will be easier to do without distractions. Ty announced that his other classes are Engineering, Technology and Gym.

As we went to look for our lockers, people stared at us. Girls gave me glares, guys checked me out. It felt weird and awkward. So Ty took my hand and rushed us to his locker. The glares were worse. They were probably human. Shifters would notice how we had similar features. We both had light auburn hair or blond if you prefer that, brown eyes, dimples and the same smile. They would have guessed we were siblings, hopefully. It was funny when guys would try and hit on me while Ty was around. He's been more overprotective lately and gave death glares to the guys staring at me while we were finding our lockers, figuring the combinations and setting them up. I was getting pretty bored until the bell rung. Ty walked me towards our first class with the glare still on his face. I giggled at him while thinking how grateful I was that we weren't coming in the middle of the year but the beginning with everyone else. No one calls my brother or me by our nicknames. Only the people we care about like ourselves and our best friends who live in New York. We'll still talk to them. But now, we have to start our first class of the day, AP American History...
