5. Expect the Unexpected

Chapter Five

Once inside, the house was amazing! The house had feminine touch but not too much, not too little, just the right amount. The walls were a perfect sky blue with white bay windows in the sitting room. The chairs were a cream color while the rug and coffee table was a dark coffee brown with matched drapes. There was even a fireplace on the wall next to the windows. Nina sat us down so she could get her husband and introduce us so we could start catching up. While she was doing that, I got up to look out those windows. The windows had a view of the forest we passed by and it was mesmerizing. I saw at one moment and looked and saw grey fur moving. Then black. It's probably wolves or wolf shifters. With Nina's strength and powerful aura, I could tell she was of high rank in her pack if she was in one. But I know I will find out soon enough. That's if we're here to talk about Ty's and my status quo of our form abilities, packs, and stuff like that. But I have a feeling that there will be more to discuss about.

It felt like hours had passed before Nina returned. Accompanying her was who I presumed to be her husband. The man had striking cobalt blue eyes and black hair. Those eyes of his scanned us and were glowing. Ugh, creepy! Nina gave him a look and he immediately looked at her and his eyes softened a bit. His aura was incredibly strong and intimidating. I instinctively smelled the air and he was a shifter. My sense of smell is getting better. But his scent was somewhat different. It held something more, something pure. That's when it finally hit me. He was an Alpha. I kept on a poker face but on the inside I was hesitant. But something inside me told me that I shouldn't be afraid and that I'm just as strong. But why is that? I'm just a regular shifter right? I should be terrified and submit or something. But I didn't want to. His opinion didn't matter to me. If he disrespected my brother, mother, or myself I would challenge him and fight. I was brought out of my thoughts by his voice. 

"Hello, William Rider, nice to meet you all. Nina has told me a lot about you lot." He had a husky voice and plastered on a smile. His eyes were full of suspicion. But what is suspicious about us exactly? This man made me jumpy and curious even rose suspicion in me. Being here made me want to watch my back. I could feel Ty's feeling through our twin link. He was feeling threatened, suspicious, weary, all the bad feelings. 

'Are you alright Ty?' I had to ask. 

'Tori, I know you can feel what I'm feeling. I can feel your feelings too! One of us has to talk to them-'I completely cut him off our link and my mom while she was introducing herself and us... 

"Sorry but our introduction is going to be cut short. Alpha Rider it's a pleasure to meet you." Nina and my mother's mouths dropped open practically touching the floor. Ty looked shocked at first but then started smirking with amusement in his eyes and the same with Alpha Rider. "Tyler and I know we're shifters and that we get it from our mother. We've known for a long time. But the signs of a shift have only started a while ago and we haven't had the pleasure of shifting yet, but that time is coming. We're not afraid... just curious. Sadly, as you can see by my mother's reaction that she had no idea we knew. We never told her and she never told us. One day, Ty and I saw our mother leave the house and followed her. Ella and Evangeline, my sisters, were sleeping and my father was in his study doing whatever he does in there. Ty and I were bored and thought of it as an adventure. We were thirteen when it happened. We followed our mother to the backyard which led to a forest. Obviously, even though she has heightened senses, she didn't see or hear us. I watched as she undressed and shifted into her beautiful chocolate brown wolf with glowing amber eyes and a small white patch on her forehead. She was larger than any normal wolf and as big as a bear. I wasn't scared, shocked, oh hell yes. Who wouldn't be? Ty also saw her wolf and we saw her have her run and watched her ever since." I looked as my mom's face. She held a look of guilt, shame, regret, and shock. "Ella and Evangeline don't know, mom. I made sure of it. Whether they are shifters or not is unknown to Tyler and myself. But they don't know about you and father doesn't either. I'm sorry we didn't tell you but we weren't sure when the time would be right but now is a good time as any." I explained everything. I looked at Ty as he walked over to me. He gave me a one armed hug around my shoulders and then gave it a squeeze and a reassuring smile on his pink lips. I smiled back and returned the affection but since I'm a bit shorter, I had to settle for a one armed hug around his waist. Stupid boy hormones! Why do they just keep growing?
