Patrick was exhausted. he had just finished a show in New York for his soul punk tour, and it had gone great. and he had met with about a hundred fans in meet and greets, and all of which had talked to him and given him presents and letters and oh my god, Patrick loved every second because he loved every single fan. he was so lucky to have such amazing people supporting him.

but Patrick was exhausted.

However there was only one more fan left, waiting to come meet Patrick. his manager told him he had one minute before the fan came in.
Patrick nodded, and took a swig of water. he's tired, dehydrated, and starting to get kind of hungry. of course he wanted to meet and talk to every single on of his fans, but right now, he was feeling kinda cranky.

he walked over to his phone, clicking the screen to see if he had any notifications while he waited.
and as he was scrolling, the final fan walked through the door. Patrick looked up, and he almost dropped his phone.
it was a boy who had just walked in. and the boy was gorgeous.
Most of Patrick's fans were women, and more specifically teenage girls who only knew him through fall out boy. But this was a guy that looked around Patrick's age, and oh my god, Patrick had never been more nervous to talk to a fan. wasn't this supposed to be the other way around?!

"hey, um, i'm Pete" the guy said shyly. Patrick smiled, his cranky mood completely gone. it was now replaced with nerves to not embarrass himself in front of the stunning boy.

"hey, i'm Patrick" patrick said, before mentally face palming. he knows who you are, idiot, this is a meet and greet. Pete laughed, replying
"um, yeah, I know" and Patrick blushed profusely. how had he already managed to embarrass himself. he's literally known this boy one minute.

the boy smiled again, looking at Patrick closely. Patrick caught him staring, and felt even more heat rush to his face. it was so nerve wracking being studied by someone who could easily be a model.
when the boy realised he was staring, he shook himself out of it and began blushing himself, which Patrick thought was insanely cute. no one had ever blushed because him before.
and especially no one as pretty as Pete.

"oh my god i'm sorry, i'm so sorry, I was staring, I didn't mean to I just-"

"its fine, really. it's late, we are all pretty tired, I think I was doing the same anyways" Patrick giggled. Pete's previously embarrassed face was now replaced with a smile. then the boy remembered the album he was holding in his hands.
"so uh, I was wondering if you could sign this? It's okay if not, you've probably done that a lot today" Pete asked, his voice getting quieter as the sentence progressed. Patrick could tell this guy was nervous, but why?! Patrick was nervous over him?? he is literally the most attractive man Patrick's ever saw and the fact that Pete is nervous around him is mind blowing, like Pete should be the one signing albums and stuff, Pete looked so much cooler and he was just so pretty and-

"hey Patrick, you need to stop staring at the guy. I know you think he's hot, but you're scaring him"
Patrick's manager Joe called. Patrick was yanked out of his trance, and realised what Joe had just said. in front of pete. oh my god, Joe is so dead.

Pete's eyes widened, almost in surprise. Patrick blushed even harder, looking down trying to hide his red face.
"shut up Joe" Patrick mumbled, laughing nervously.
Patrick dared a glance up to look at Pete's face, hoping it wouldn't be total disgust.

to Patrick's surprise, Pete was blushing as well.
"y-you think i'm good looking?" Pete asked, almost in disbelief.
Patrick began to stutter and stumble over his words, before being interrupted by Joe again.

"bro, I'm pretty sure Patrick would bed you right here right now if I wasn't sitting 10 yards away" Joe called from a sofa while reading a magazine. he wasn't even looking up and he knew Patrick was head over heels.

"JOE" Patrick yelled, wishing his manager and best friend would just shut up.
"what?" Joe asked innocently, looking up from his magazine.
"can you not?!" Patrick whisper shouted.
Joe shrugged, going back to his reading. Patrick almost physically face palmed, but he held himself back. he didn't want to humiliate himself anymore in front of Pete.
Pete, the gorgeous boy who liked his music, and who now probably thought he was creepy and crazy.

Patrick turned back to look at Pete, and was met with a smile. correction, an amazing smile. a movie star smile. Patrick wondered how he was the celebrity in this situation.
"so, um, about what your manager just said," Pete began, looking down.
Patrick braced. preparing for a humiliating rejection was nothing new, but it was still painful seeing it coming.
"...yeah?" Patrick replied quietly.
"...um, well I was wondering if I could take you out for dinner? i know it's late but I know some really great pizza joints and we could take away or we could eat in or whatever you like, and I'll pay-"
Pete began to ramble on about all the late night pizza places they could go to, and how if Patrick didn't like pizza they could go anywhere else, that's cool too, and Patrick couldn't help but be gobsmacked. Pete was asking him out on a date?

"uh" Patrick said, trying to stop Pete's (adorable) rambling.
Pete stopped abruptly, nervously waiting for Patrick's reply.
"yeah" Patrick smiled, "yeah. I'd really like that, actually."

Pete beamed, and he actually had to hold himself back from doing a fist pump in the air. it felt like he'd just won a grand prize. he'd won a date with Patrick.

And ten years later, pete still tells Patrick that's exactly what it felt like. Pete's exact words were,

"Patrick stump, getting a date with you, felt like winning a game show. when you said yes to being my boyfriend, it felt like winning the lottery. but when you agreed to marry me? well, that felt like I'd just been given the whole damn world"
